Opalec NewBeam with Flashlight Tuner?

Just like the title, has anyone tried using the Flashlight Tuner (tailcap with red and white LEDs) on a Mini-Mag that has the Newbeam unit installed?

Just curious, as it would afford both a good white light and a small red one in a tough durable package, using common batteries. Of course, it's also probably the most expensive way to modify a $10 flashlight...

I've tried them together. If I remember correctly, the results were not favorable. There is too much series resistance from the NewBeam when the tuner is turned on, so its LEDs glow quite dimly.

The Flashlight Tuner really requires a regular bulb in order to work right.

Bah! That's ok. The Opalec is worth it, in my opinion. Even non-flashaholics are impressed when they first see it(see also: look into it while on).
