Ok, Im back. I cant go into detail as to why I/we were unavailable for the last week. We are all safe and sound and we are now scheduling the GREAT LIGHT PARTY for Friday the 6th of Feb. Many things have changed for us and we had to delay this grand event utill now. Thats War for ya! I hope the delay hasn't extinguished the enthusiasm for this "special operation" You think you have been waiting a long time? These guys have been dying to get their hands on the lights. Try being the one guarding the goods and constantly explaining: its only a few more days....sorry, just a few days more,...not yet, everyone isnt here. Go get your popcorn and soda/beer and sit back because Operation Enlightenment is about to start in just a few days!

I hope to have pictures posted within 24 hrs of the light giveaway. Followed by dozens of thank you notes.

I, on the other hand, only have 7 days left in this place.

Im 11 hrs ahead of the west coast. I havent been given my exact hour from the 1st Sgt yet as to when I can hand out the lights. I hope to have an exact time in my email box in the morning when I come to work tomorrow.

Bummer that Sasha is taking the server down over the weekend for the upgrade just when Bryan is getting ready to pass out the lights. But then again, the server should be better able to handle the load of all of us looking at this thread!

No time would be "right" for everyone... this has to be done and I'm starting training for a new job next week and then SHOT Show next weekend. It's now or never... I'm sorry, guys... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have a time to hand out the lights!! The party will happen at 1200 hrs Saturday our time. That is 4am Eastern time on the 7th of Feb for you guys. Everyone is getting excited and wishing for the best of the bunch. I have 8 hours to sort the lights , cases, and batteries for the large group of people. I will have someone take pictures and I will have the wife post them when she wakes up later tomorrow. Of course the party is right in the middle of my sleeping time. But Im more than willing to get up for this long awaited event. Only 14hrs 15 mins to go!

Im trying to get back to Vegas in time to meet Sasha and everyone else that will be in Vegas for the convention on the 14th of Feb. I hoping to be on a flight on the 13th from somewhere in Europe to the USA!

Bryan... it is unfortunate that CPF will be closed down on Saturday morning at about 9AM MST (11AM EST... 7PM Iraq). However, I will be doing my best to get the backup and upgrade done as quickly as possible... hopefully by Saturday night. Please pass on to your wife that if the board is offline, to just hang tight. Also, please feel free to pass on my email address to her so that if she needs any help or has any questions, I would be more than happy to offer whatever I can.

Just a question, will the lights be for the soldiers to use or will they be for them to own?

As in, will they stay in Iraq or will (what with the current situation) they come back to the US?

Good answer!!! I think alot of us support our troops that are there. I for one cannot quite feel what they are feeling as I am not there. I want them to latch on to a CPF donated light and take it home. I think maybe someday a little one might ask "Granpa where'd you get this one" or "Granpa you get one while you were there?" Answers "I got one let me show it to you" "I had one tossed it when the battery went dead." "I got one took photos kept records sold it at CPF so you could go to college" Who knows?? Not me I think CPF was given a chance to do something. Kevin at the Battery station had a chance to do something. If they decide what they need is a middle aged short fat ugly hairy guy with bi focals let me know.

Only 6 1/2 hrs to go! I need to go home and sleep for a few hours before the big event. I feel like Dad/Santa preparing the toys at Christmas Eve, hoping the children will be pleased with what they get. Everyone is excited, from the youngest 19yr old airmen to the 50+yr old contractor. Its a really neat feeling! Thanks THANKS T H A N K S!!!!!
