Good night and sleep tight... after you get your lights no one will be able to sleep anymore... I hear a lack of darkness will do that /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Have a blast, Greengoose! Glad to hear you are headed home shortly.

You and your buds are the best!

It was a GIANT SUCCESS!!!!. The light party was THE most awesome thing Ive probally ever done in my life. I laid out 50 +piles of lights. Mixed bunches of large and small items with Pelican cases, etc... I had everthing laid out an hour before the actual commanders call. It was like a flea market with lots of people drooling over the lights. The first SGT said his words and then it was my turn. I explained to them how this whole thing came about and how people who they never met donated all of these lights in support of us being over here. Meanwhile they drew numbers from a ziplock bag. I described some of the lights as they were drawing and when the empty bag came back to me, it was time to pull the numbers. One by one I pulled the numbers as I looked into an ocean of happy anxious faces. LOTS of smiles were grinning from ear to ear. Each time I pulled a number I heard signs of relief as well as joy as they anticipated the bigger more expensive lights to be had. Then there were 2 lights left, one Surefire G2 Nitrolon and one Surefire 8NX Commander. I drew a number and realized it was the last number. I was left with the Grand prize 8NX Commander and no more numbers. Oh NO! How did this happen? How did I miscount?!?! I have 50+ onlookers staring at me with the grand prize and no way to give it out. Everyone has a light but the best one is still sitting there. In a panic I wrote a number on a piece of paper and told everyone to pick a number from 1-100. The first person to guess the number will get the light. I was worried that I would go around the room several times as no one would guess the correct number and the same numbers would be repeated over and over. Luckily half way thru the people someone picked the number 74. Whew! We had a winner! I will post pictures tomorrow. I only got 3 1/2 hrs sleep today and I need to go get some rest. Morale was soooooo high you couldn't see the top of it. All night long you could see people using their new lights for everything. They looked for ways to do work without normal lighting. It was beyond fantastic. There are no words I can type that can express the feelings felt by all of us today. I will post thank yous as I receive them. I will post a few pictures with the thank yous over the next couple of days. That all for now. MANY MANY SALUTES TO ALL OF YOU!!!!

Bryan,

You're very welcome and I'll donate again and again if your unit needs something else. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

No better way to express how we feel than to give you the exact words from the people themselves. Enjoy.

Thanks for the flashlight. I got a Pelican M6 and it makes working night shift so much easier.

To the kind folks of Candlepowerforums.com,
thanks for your thoughtfull donation of flashlights and much needed accessories, it feels good to know that people back home have us in your thoughts. Even more resounding is the fact that you all took action, backing up your words and beliefs with true results. Your actions let us know that we are not alone here in Iraq.

Thanks Again

Please pass on to your club how grateful I am for the flashlight gift they gave to me. Dare I say they've made things "brighter" over here? There have been too many times over here when I've gotten muddy or cut myself because I didn't have any light to help me see. Thank you so much for this gift.

Sounds like a success to me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Okay, I'll admit it. When I saw all of those lights, my mouth just kinda opened up...and yea. Now there is a drop of saliva on my keyboard. But hey, good times! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

Great shot, G-goose.

I'll bet that troop, second row, just left of center can whip everone's ars!

No matter to me. Just glad this group is on my side. I'd be pretty darn sceered otherwise.

Icebreak, I just checked out the CPF gear and was suprised that they are not offering a CPF bib or a splatter sheild! I am fairly certain that many of us could use one at times.

This is great news. I have been glad to be a part of this undertaking. Please send over special requests as we still have funds left. A CPF bib might be a good idea. I see a lot of stuff there and I want to again thank everyone for helping make this happen. RLD-Rapid Light Deployment.

I like that idea. It would be a neat idea to offer something to wear while on CPF. Maybe it could be like a rectangle, with a cutout for the head. On the back it could say.... something funny, maybe something like

I'm on CPF
Don't mind me if a drule
I'll try not to spend too much money
But they just came out with something cool!

Lol, Idk, and on the front we could have the official CPF logo:
newtitle.gif
As well as our CPF name and member number. Our reg date would be nice too.
