Opinion on this UV?

Well given the amount of information given on that page I would have to say you are getting a cheap chinese made knock off. There isnt even a picture of the light:thumbsdow

I agree with ghostguy6. For 31 bucks you will probably get a $0.31 dollar light! Cheap Chinese lights are usually a waste of money. :shakehead

That guy is a repectable seller, by my experience. He must have forgotten to include a picture, because his other auctions always have them. He ships from California, too. It's definitely Chinese made, but the wavelength of the LEDs are as advertised. I've bought from him three times. However, two of the three times I HAD TO SEND THE ITEM BACK FOR REPLACEMENT, as it did not work when I got it. He won't hassle you at all. If you buy from him, I **HIGHLY** recommend that you email him and request that he personally checks the item's functionality before shipping it to you.

I have to say, though, that I was eventually (after getting working ones) happy with the lights that I received. I got a 49 LED 380-385nm UV flashlight and the other was a 21 LED 380-385nm UV flashlight. (I also got a 100 LED "showerhead" flashlight, which was one of the items I donated to the LA Flashapalooza raffle) The 49 LED flashlight is, needlessly, dual stage. I say needlessly, because whether running on 48 or 12 LEDs, the output isn't that much different, which is odd. I'm guessing that, when in 12 LED mode, the LEDs are severely overdriven. That's just a guess though, as I'm a virtual laymen when it comes to the technicalities of this stuff. The 21 LED 380-385 UV flashlight that I received from him worked well right out of the box and was superior (IMO) to the Terralux Minimag UV droppin, in output and function.

I'm sure if you ask for a photo of the light, he'll update the listing.

Edit: This one has a picture, and it looks identical to the 49 LED light that I've got (it's the blue one at the bottom): http://cgi.ebay.com/The-Most-Powefu...hZ012QQcategoryZ66951QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

Thanks for the info -

So what's the consensus, get it, or look for something else?

What are the other choices available? 3AA is a big plus over AAA-based lights.

I'd go with a regular 2AA minimag with the Terralux Cree 7090 UV drop-in. Might be a slight bit more, but I guarantee it'll last longer. The "shower head" cluster lights are notorious for failing (sometimes individual LEDs poop out, or the whole light does).

And BTW, there's no such thing as a "more desirable" UV wavelength in the grand scheme of things. It depends on the application. Different things that show up under UV light show up differently under different wavelengths. Check the Application Matrix on this site for what'd work best for you.
