Opus BT-C3400

I just received this charger last night and only charged a couple of 350mAh 10440s. So far it worked flawlessly and up to expectations. It is version 2.2 and the instructions are easy to understand and straight forward. This is the first new charger I have had that will charge newer chemistry batteries and so far it seems to work nice. The fan is pretty quiet also(I know that was an issue with the 3100).

While the electronics in the 3100 and 3400(ebay market only) are the same, there is a difference in the fans used in the later production units after the initial barrage of fan noise complaints, and I quote the words of Henry Xu, the charger's designer/engineer, in his email to me:

we also have the fan improved: the fan type is much quiet and more reliable because it is no longer a sleeve type fan, it is spinning via the magnetic force thus has much less friction.

That is what I was thinking. I thought I read that there were some small tweaks along with the fan. I could be wrong though

Yes, I confirm that. Henry Xu confirmed it in one of his emails to me, and has posted that information somewhere in the forum.

The 3400 is just a re-badged 3100 requested by a dealer who is selling in Ebay only, as requested by that dealer.

according to the aforementioned dealer, the 3400 included some improvements he specifically requested, and opus integrated those changes into the 2.2 3100. a fine distinguishment, but one i feel should be pointed out.

The points discussed here is about post number 2, which is about the difference between the 3400 and 3100, and there is none, as long as they are the same v2.2 series, or v2.1.

The difference between the earlier v2.1 and v2.2 are indeed minor, which are:


1. press "display"button for 5s can turn on back light permanently. Press another 5s to resume normal 30s time out off function.
2. Refresh mode show "discharge" capacity instead of "charge" capacity.


These are the only change comparing to v2.1.
