Opus is back!

Very cool. Bloom County was a staple of my college existance. I have all of the bound collections, as well as those for Calvin and Hobbes and The Far Side.

I miss the original Bloom characters; Steve Dallas was my favorite.

One day in November of 1996, I decided that I would catch a flick ("12 Monkeys"), over at the Oak Tree Cinemas. On my way into the theater, I noticed a tricked-out Triumph Speed Triple. The bike was painted silver, with "Victory Stripes", rivets and the old USAF star on the tail section. Once in the theater, I spotted a guy in scooter gear and, since there was 15 minutes before the movie trailers would start, I struck up a conversation with him. It turns out that he was the owner of the Triumph I spotted on the way in. I asked him about his ride, told him about mine, swapped a few "war stories", movie started, conversation ended, movie ended, and we went on with our respective lives. You know, killing time.

Anyway, a few weeks later, the "International Motorcycle Show" came to town and they always have a section for local custom bikes and restorations (which I never fail to check out). I was not at all amazed to see that Speed Triple sitting there (it was pretty sweet), but what blew me away was the owner's name.....Berkeley Breathed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif Just a normal guy who likes to ride and doesn't mind passing time with a stranger, talking about bikes. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif I wish him the best of luck.
