I'm looking for an Orange Silicon #023 O-ring to go behind the window in an Aleph 1 head. Does anyone know a source? I've looked at the Shoppe but they only seem to have black.

dmdrewitt, please could you order 1 or 2 extra ones for me and I'll
settle up with you of course?

Thanks

If you put 9396K6 in the search page on McMaster.com , it confirms that Silicon is :-

"Silicone has good resistance to low and high temperatures. Temperature range is -65° to +450° F. Durometer hardness is A70. FDA compliant. Color is red-orange."

But it also says in the table that it is NR (Not Recommended) for use with Synthetic Lubricants.

Does anyone know if Krytox 50/50 classed as a Synthetic Lubricant?

I think Krytox counts as a synthetic lubricant, but surely you wouldn't
lubricate this O-ring anyway if it sits behind the window?

Good point!!! Quite correct!!

I was thinking of the Orange Silicon o-rings that I have at both ends of Ti Aleph tubes. They are lubricated with Krytox 50/50 and don't seem to exhibit any visible adverse effects.

But in this case for the window o-ring I won't be lubricating it :stupid:

Edit: Thanks David

Hi David  could you spare a couple more Orings for me too please?

Sure. No problem.

I anyone in the USA would like some Orange O-rings. I will order the o-rings and ask for them to be shipped to you. You can take out what you would like and send the rest to me in the UK and I will send them out to UK people. I would send Paypal to cover postage to the US counterpart.

If there is no-one in the USA wanting a few, then I will use "unforgiven's" parcel forwarding service.

I believe Krytox is a synthetic lubricant but I have seen no problem using it with the silicone o-rings and have been for over a year. The only problem I have had with lubes is some of the silicone greases which seems odd on the face of it.
