Suppose we greatly misunderstood each other then.
Just so there is no more misunderstandings when I first read about Mcgizmo lights I knew someday that I would own one of them. I will however admit that not being as well educated as you are about lights that the first thing that drew me in was the design and then after reading all the great posts on here and after seeing the beam shots then I new I wanted one. I guess the reason I asked about the outputs and run times is because of some of the lights I owned in the past went through batteries very fast and I did not want to have to replace batteries all the time. I use my lights quite a bit even in the day time inside my house I have a crazy cat and she looses her toys under things all the time and cries until you get them out. It is a big step for me to buy a light of this caliber and since my bad experience with my ARC 6 I was gun shy of everything but since I have never heard or read a bad thing about Don or his lights I think my problems are over, well not yet still have to get my money back from ARC I hope that not a problem. Again let me say sorry if there was any confusion I am just here to learn. Thanks

Here is a new title,
I just ordered a Mcgizmo Haiku SP-G 2xAA from Don, and so a happy ending to a bad experience. I would like to say that as upset as I am about the ARC 6 going bad while I had it I really liked the light. The light has a lot going for it. I see I am not the only one that had that problem with it and it seems like a bad run of them and I bet that since they are seeing some come back with the same problem maybe they will check out the other lights before they ship out replacements that is what I hope they do but who knows. I must say that after talking to Don I was very pleased with the time he spent talking to me and trying to explain things so I could understand everything so there was no issues with what I wanted in a light. And as it turns out we both use our lights in a similar fashion we use them a lot and that is why he designed the light as he did its very user friendly. I agree with Don when he said he likes to keep it simple well it would appear Don has accomplished this and he does so with class.😀

You are going to love your McGizmo. I'm with carrot on this one - I have a McGizmo from 3 years ago that I use a lot and enjoy even though the emitter is considered old. It has an amazing beam and has served me well and will continue to do so.

It would be nice to hear from Peter or Arc in general to find out what the deal is. Why are so many lights going bad on people almost instantly? Why are some dead on arrival? Very strange.

I'm still pulling for Arc. Hoping it will get better and they step up to the plate.

The sad thing is that my Arc-AAA will need replacing (still works, just very worn looking) and I don't know if I'll go with another Arc-AAA. I am serious thinking about the Peak Eiger with one of the tiny batteries instead. Peak sometimes takes a little bit longer to arrive, but they always have worked (and continue to work). :sigh:

Aw, Carrot!

I've got to stop reading ANYTHING from you. :nana:

First, you convince me to finally shell out $$$ to buy an Arc6 based on your great review.

And NOW… you've convinced me I simply must finally save up for a McGizmo of some species.

Admittedly, all this convincing of yours has been unintentional and indirect; but when my wife asks why, I shall point at you. 😗

Watch out for this guy Kaichu dento!.... He's so good, he'll sell you your own lights back. :naughty: :eeksign:
I was trying to help sell your light - can't help it if it reminded you of what you like about that light! 😀

If you offer me an Arc 6 that I don't have to jump through flaming hoops for though I'll take it off your hands! :naughty:

The situation continues.

My brand new, shiny, lovely, well-lubed, over engineered, anodized to within an inch of it's life, etc, etc, ARC6. If you remember, it was delivered yesterday and worked straight out of the box and I thought it great...that one...well, it's stopped working.

Not the same problems as last time (that one worked, then would emit no light and heated up the internals considerably when you tried to get light out of it) or the time before ( DOA with burnt smell ). This time it worked great - I was able to set the levels like I wanted - Lowest, next lowest and brightest for virtual - and when darkness fell, I used this light for my means of illumination around the house. I had it on lowest for about twelve minutes and then it died. twisted it off and on, and it lit up - for 3 seconds then died.

So now it is a true flashlight, capable of illuminating on all three levels for a second or so - but it will heat up the internals most efficiently!!!

ARC are in bed ATM but I will be ringing them later, oh yes.

So here I am nearly four months after my initial order. I just want a torch that works. Surely they'll be able to do that for me. I'm not some kind of person that wants to make a fuss or get people's sympathy or anything, I just want a torch that does what they say it can.

Sheesh!!!

Nyctophiliac,

Sorry to here this
Even your patience must be wearing thin now is it refund time yet?
I realy wanted an Arc6 but the eBay thing made me decide never to buy another Arc
Is anyone who has read this thread going to buy from Arc?
It is a real shame the original Arc bilt some great lights.
The end of a piece of CPF history :candle:

Hi Mike,

Patience is a virtue, no matter how thin it may get. More exasperated by this. I presume some working and reliable ARC6 lights must have left the factory at some point so I will keep trying to get one of these elusive little suckers before they are gone forever.

It did occur to me to translate my order to one of the ARC AAA Titanium kits and another ARC AAA as I haven't got any of the GS models available. But, nice though that may be, I really want an ARC6. For the little time I've had with ones that work, they are great lights with great UI in a small and light and robust form. A refund really wouldn't help me because there is always bad feeling on both sides and the whole experience would have been a frustrating pointless nightmare.

Consternation is my middle name.

Just after Fred and before Endeavour!

So just in the thread alone now. How many bad arc6's are there? I travel often and always bring my arc6 with me since it's small and bright and has never let me down. I was one of those that a ebay arc6...but it has the K2 TFFC 😀 and hand built by it's creator. I would really love to hear what Peter has to say about these lights. Not only is there a huge delay in shipping (due to stock levels perhaps), but it also seems like these lights don't even go through QC....what is going on???

To say the least, until arc clears up this mess I would be quite apprehensive if I was to buy another light from them.

As for as Mcgizmo's lights...uh once you have one you will know why they are so loved here by many! You never hear anyone say anything negative about his lights...well except the price 😛 I love the lunasol series and it's too bad they are discontinued. I love my LS27 and will never ever sell it!!!

Actually, I was going to try to speak to Peter this time around. Three duds in a row is just too much. In addition to the cost of the item - I have to pay about fifty dollars in import duty and Fedex charges each time.

I've nearly paid out for two ARC6's in total - the irony is I now have three and none of them are worth a penny.

So even if they do send me out another I'll still have to fork out for the duty.

Feeling a bit bruised and battered here.

Sorry to rant on!

I can't imagine how mad I would have been if they sent me a new light and it did not work either but you are on your third light, that is just crazy. I called it quits after my first only because of the trouble that everyone else has posted about. I did not want to risk what you are going through now. I hope you tell them to burn your new light in for at least a hour before they send you a new one and to give you a titanium ARC AAA for your trouble, that is the least they could do for you. I would say by now you are on a mission a new light at any cost or you will have nothing to show for all the crap you went through, for your next step you might have to jump on a plane and fly to ARC and pick out your own light. :hairpull:

I am also waiting for my replacement ARC 6. In the same boat with same feelings. Just want one that works. Mine lasted less than 24 hours (much less) but really want the light. hope it works out for the both of us and the replacement lights work flawlessly!

Patience is a virtue!

Anyone who even "thinks" about buying an Arc 6 at this point is in desperate need of an intervention :shakehead

I am starting to wish that I exchanged my ARC 6 instead of getting a refund, I think we are looking at a future collectible with some many bad ones out there the good ones are getting rare and since the people who have put so much effort into getting a light could end up selling those lights that is once they get one that works to the less patient ones for a profit. All kidding aside the light is a nice little light and I do wish that I had one but its to late now I spent the money already. I would think that after all this the people who own ARC would know what is going on and unless they don't care would step in and fix the problem they have a good product I hope they work things out.
