osram 64623 won't fit in aw soft start switch

I ordered 4 64623 bulbs from bulb connection and an aw soft start driver with kiu ceramic bi pin adapter and the 64623 wont fit into the socket. I think the bulb pins are too large any help please.

The prongs on the bulb should fit into the socket with a little persuasion. What I did with mine was to widen, in small increments, the metal leads inside the KIU socket until they could fit the prongs on the bulb. You can use a very thin flathead screw driver or paper clip to widen the leads.

That is strange. I have no problem to insert 64633 or 64657 into my AW switches. Is the pin bigger than 1mm in diameter?

I got it in ok after wiggling the bulb from side to side while pushing down. It took more force than expected and is a pretty tight fit.

Your observation is typical when inserting the larger Osram bulbs into a new KIU holder. Look at my images here where I took the KIU and Osram bulb holders apart. It gives you a better idea what is going on when you try to insert the bulb.

It is important to be careful, and loosen up the new holder with a small flat blade screwdriver. Also useful to see which side the retaining clip is on inside the hole, as keeping the bipin legs slightly pressed against the opposite side as you insert makes it easier.

I have broken the glass stem inserting various bulbs, so it is worth taking a minute to understand what is going on and the best ways to optimize insertion.
