P3D keeps switching off

Hi everybody,

I recently received my P3D from fenixstore (4sevens) and was quite amazed by the output. When I first got it out of the box, I immediately checked for the problems reported by other users such as a bubbly tailcap or an off-center LED, and so far, mine seems to be just fine.

However, I'm experiencing a different problem: My P3D keeps switching itself off. :awman: For example, if I turn it on (no matter if turbo or normal mode), the light will turn off after some time. This is reproducable, but always takes a different amount of time to happen.

Once the light has switched off, you can't even turn it on again! I had to take it all apart, put it back together and switch it on and off for at least a dozen times. It's not the batteries - I've tried it with different fresh sets.

Anyone else experiencing this? Any ideas on the problem?

Thomas

wow, very strange... i think Fenix need to read this forum and make some ajustments to quality control and minor things...

Sounds like the heat causes something to disconnect inside, then when it cools it reconnects. Probably a cold solder joint on the driver board. My first P3D died after runnning turbo for about 1 minute, then never worked again. Sounds like you need yours repaired or replaced.

Sounds like some contact problem. I would clean all the threads and the contact to the +ve and -ve end just to be sure and try again.

Hello, Lichtschalter

I have telephoned FENIX in china to bring these issues to them and after talking with christina, i am sure that they are working very hard to fix many issues, however this may take some time.

I am thankful for my skype account because an international call to china from england would kill me ! However now i have a direct email with christina who speaks english and i hope to see fenix grow in popularity and quality very soon..

Thanks

WG

EDIT:
ps, their phone call holding system made me think the local ice cream truck was coming down the phone to give me ice pop... either that or a jewelery box had just been opened

It Su*ks!! when things like this happen. I'm sure Fenix will make it right sooner or later. All the best ......

I pretty much "know" they will fix these things, they just have to realise that although they are gaining popularity, the number of people who have complaints and niggles about them should be cause for concern. We are talking about improving what they already have, not adding new things. I agree with people that some extra knurling would be useful but at least they have to fix these heat issues / DOA / turning off / battery polarity protection / centralise the LED in the reflector.

I think if they add knurling to the parts that need it, maybe alter the reflector that will improve on the concept they already have too...

Could the issue with alignment of the LED actually be more related to the Cree than the P3D? Looking at some of the Crees that I've gotten from DX, a few seem to have the die off center under the lens.

aparently some peoples Fenix Cree are centered, while most are not, so this leads me to believe that its a manufactuor problem at fenix
