I was thinking about ordering a couple of Solarforce L2's for the truck and car, and was planning on single 18650's for power. Then I found out that rechargeable li-ion's aren't good in the high temperatures inside a car.

I'm guessing that means I have only three options: AA, AAA or CR123A lithium primary cells. I know none of these will have the run time of a 18650, but which is going to give the best run time for the money?

Looking at Batteryjunction.com it appears you can get AA and AAA lithium cells for about $1.85ea. and CR123A for $1.00ea. Does that mean that using a Cree XR-E R2 drop-in, I would get the best run time vs cost with 2xCR123A 3.0v or would 2xAA or 3xAAA be better? What kind of run times can be expected with the best solution?

All advice appreciated
