I tried to run a sure Fire p60 lamp assembly on AAA, AA and D-cells.
First I used 4 D-cells, but the light output was bad. When i added two more D-cells the light output is nearly the same than the p60 with two litium batteries.
Is there anybody who tried the same? Can the p60 lamp be run on this configuration savely, because 6x1,5 volts are 9volt. The same thing did not go with the P61. The light output on 6 batteries was bad. It would be interesting, to use the p60 in other lamps, because the coasts are lower.

I have tried before using 4 NiMH AAA's to run a P61. It did shine brightly when the batteries were fully charged. I did not do a run time test, so I'm not sure how long the "bright white" will last.

I have tried 4 AA alkalines, two sets of them to run a P60 and it seems to run well. This was in an old 8 AA "double barrel" light. It seems that 4 D cells should work well. Did you check to make sure that all the cells are fresh? I think that 6 D's would overdrive the p60, since that would be over 9 volts.

Brock reports that the P60 pulls 4.8 V and 1.10 A out of 2 lithium batteries.

2 * 4 serial / parallel AA's in a DB8AA pull noticeably more than 4.8 V when fresh (probably 5.2 V.) I drive a 4.8V 1.10 A W/A bulb in DB8AA's that are much brighter (about 136 Lumens) than my P60 (65 lumens) on lithiums. The P60 should start off around 85 to 90 lumens in a DB8AA with fresh alkaline batteries.
