What is the el simple method of painting aluminum? I want it to bind to the item so it looks nice.

Also any durable coatings out there? Brands to look for, etc?

Thanks.

I've used Appliance Epoxy paint in a spray can to repaint some black Maglights after doing some mod work. The only drawback is the limited color selection, I've only seen black and white at my local hardware store. But it adheres well to bare aluminum, is fairly durable, and sets to a smooth glossy finish. The only precaution is with multiple coats. If you apply the new coat too soon, before the first coat is fully cured, the new coat will develop lots of bubbles that ruin the finish. 24 hours is a bare minimum, but I've still had trouble at that point about half the time. I try to wait at least 3 days between coats, sometimes as long as a week.
