I've seen a posting that indicates that the PALight has a new model that is higher output.

Anyone have experience with this?
Any info or reviews of the new model?

Thanks!

I have one. The bright mode is about 50-75% brighter than the original. All of the modes are the same. Haven't tried it but I suspect that the runtime is shorter. It just stays on my nightstand whether I'm home or on travel. Mine came from Brightguy.com. I did see a review somewhere you might want to try a search.

I am curious also....I have a few models and some of them have TINY led's but they are extremely bright. Is this what you are talking about? These led'are a little less than half the diameter and about 3/4 the height of a regular LED. They seem bright but not that much brighter.

I have the so-called "Pal Gold" (according to my source, it should be called the Pal Survival now and is no longer offered with a gold belt) and the Pal OneStar.

The Pal Survival / Gold has a Nichia SMD LED in it, while the OneStar has a Nichia 5mm LED in it. The chip inside the LED is the same for both, but the driver circuitry is different between the two Pal models.

The OneStar puts out a PT Impact-like circular beam with a sharp cutoff, while the Survival puts out a more-or-less diamond or rectangular, very narrow beam.
