I just got the Panasonic DVD-LS80 Portable DVD/CD Player from B&H Photo

Key Features

• High-Resolution 8.5" LCD Screen
The 8.5" wide (16:9) LCD display reproduces a crisp, bright view of your DVD movies, and its adjustable viewing angle offers many viewing options.

• Plays Multiple Movie and Music Formats
Compatible DVD formats include: DVD-Video, DVD-R/W, DVD+R/W, DVD+R DL, DVD-R DL, DVD-RAM, CD, CD-R/W, DivX, MPEG-4, WMA, MP3, and JPEG.

• Built-In Dolby Digital and DTS Sound
Outstanding sound is generated through the DVD-LS80, with the inclusion of Dolby Digital and DTS technologies, you can be assured this unit plays back the highest quality audio.

• Progressive Scan
The DVD-LS80 is a progressive scan DVD player, capable of scanning an entire video frame at once; scan-lines commonly associated with interlaced video are drastically reduced. The result is a spectacularly clear image with no motion artifacts (stair-stepping), and details so sharp they seem as if they're etched onto the screen.

• Multiple Viewing Angles
Freestyle viewing enables the screen to be tilted to a vast array of positions for viewing. The screen can even be folded flat onto the unit to create a tablet and the buttons are still accessible to control the unit without needing to move the screen.

• Dual Headphone Jacks
The DVD-LS80 offers dual headphone output jacks, which enables two people to listen to music or movie soundtracks simultaneously with separate headphones.

• 6-Hours of Continuous Playback
You have the ability to play your favorite DVDs for up to 6 hours on a single battery charge.

• Built-In Speakers
Speakers contained discretely within the unit allow for watching a DVD without headphones. You can even playback a CD through the built-in speakers. Having built-in speakers enables greater flexibility to watch DVDs.

• Lightweight and Slim Design
The DVD-LS80's features a slim and lightweight design of only 2.3 lbs.

Pros - 6 Hour Battery.

Cons - Sound not very loud with built in speakers.
Average sound loudness with headset.

That is a nice looking unit. I just picked up a Phillips DVD player that has a built in iPod dock. Now I can load 80gigs of movies onto the iPod before vacation and have a decent sized screen to watch them on. It works very well.

Hey now that's nice. A lot better than luggin' 'round my laptopper eh?

Enjoy!

A nice sounding lightweight headset for a reasonable price!

Now that is a damn nice looking piece of electronics for an incredible price. I have used the hell out of my aging Panasonic LX8 DVD player in many environments, and never any problem. It has saved my sanity on many an airline flight, or wait in a terminal.

Mine did not have great battery life, so they came out with a clip on 6000mAh flat battery pack that fits well on the bottom. Even though your 6 hours sounds great, I find they overrate the run time, and it drops if you use a higher brightness of screen display. I bet they have a similar supplemental battery, that if you are on a connecting flight with delays, you will appreciate having it.

The speakers on most of these DVD players are a joke. I have a number of headphones, but my favorite for travel are the ear buds like the Etymotic ER-4P/S or the M-Audio IE-30's (or the IE-10's if you are on a budget). Reason for these is the nearly total blocking of ambient airplane/train/car sound. They are hundreds of times better than the Bose, Panasonic, Sony, Sennheiser noise cancelling HP's.

Anyway, looks like a great purchase. Enjoy.
