Hi all,
Like many, I have gained interest in modding a 5D maglite with the classic XM-L mod. This is to go as a gift to someone who deserves something very nice. (Yes, they're Li-ion safety-approved!)
I would like to put 4x32650's in the barrel for optimal voltage and capacity. The catch: my goal is to make 2 sets of 2x32650's in series wired together in parallel-- all in the 5D mag tube. So, like this:
__|__
|-----|
+---+
Batt Batt
Batt Batt
-.......-
|____|
....|...
Of course, all of this needs to happen in a straight mag tube. I'm worried about whether a bit of metal flat ribbon could fit around the cells to run up and down the mag tube to double the light's runtime. Suggestions?
Also, if anyone has experience running 32650's and can comment on their sag problem for this setup, or suggest a better alternative, that would be wonderful. Note that I googled everything I could about these questions before posting a comment here, so I've done my homework!
Thank you for your help.
