PayPal $5 rebate (for Mother's Day)

I was emilaed an invite BUT, with all of the real looking stuff I have received about my Paypal account I would not respond to anything I cannot find by logging on to my account and responding. There is a lot of fraud with people promising anything to get your account information.

I'd agree that you have to be very careful who you give your info to. In this case, they ask that you just enter the email address to register- not any other personal info. Also, I believe that those who are eligible do see a link on their My Account page.

I just got my $15 dollar rebate off $30 from last month, so it does work (if you're eligible.)

With all the thousands that I've spent across PayPal over the years, I'm just pissed that they don't throw me a bone here and invite me. What the hell do you have to do to get an invite for these offers?

I received the email, but there is no link mentioning it on PayPal's My Account page. I remain skeptical and didn't register for the "discount."

Very wise to be cautious regarding PayPal Phishing. I have [email protected] in my contacts :) . I didn't know it wasn't open to everyone. I know that $15 rebate had a link on the sign on page but this one doesn't. I have two accounts the one that got the offer was my non-Credit Card account. Maybe that's the difference? Nothing really in the eligibility section of the rules.

4. Eligibility:
a. This offer is limited to the following users only:
i. Users in the United States who receive this Offer in an email sent to them directly from PayPal. Some users who receive the email Offer may also receive this Offer on the Account Overview page while they are logged into their PayPal accounts or while logging out.
ii. Users in Canada who receive the Offer in the Account Overview page while logged into their PayPal accounts.
b. Eligible users in the United States and Canada will receive a successful registration notification when they register for the promotion.
Participants must be registered PayPal account holders and must be legal United States or Canadian residents ("Eligible Participants"). You will not be eligible for the rebate if your PayPal account is not in good standing.

I also violated the last part of rule 5.

5. Restrictions: Offer is available for a limited time only, PayPal reserves the right to cancel, suspend or modify part or all of this Offer at any time without notice, for any reason in its sole discretion. This Offer cannot be resold, transferred, or combined with any other offer, discount, or promotion. [bold mine]This offer can only be promoted by PayPal.

I never get these e-mails (I did one through a link). But did just get the $15 last night :)

So, the people who got the $5 e-mail. Why do you think you're eligible and others aren't?

Just curious, maybe y'all are infrequent users of Paypal? Don't use e-Bay much or use it a lot? Because, an incentive means they really want you to use their service.... so maybe the people getting it rarely use PayPal?

Thoughts?

I wonder if only 'low volume' users qualify. Like Nomad, I've spent thousands of dollars via PayPal over the past few years, and I haven't 'qualified' for the last two or three promos. It really bugs me.

^ ditto and never got any promo e-mails, but able to jump on at least two before they "fixed" them.

I doubt it. I qualified for the last one--the $15 dollar one-and I've also spent many thousands of dollars via PayPal, over the past few years.

Meh. To get the invite I'd have to get stuff shipped from overseas, which would cost way more than the $5 saving.

Paypal: we have Mother's day here in Europe too!
