Peak LED solut.\'s Atlantic 1W?

Hmm theres a new banner advertising "Atlantic 1W" from Peak. Its probably a luxeon. Thats it. Anything else that is already known about this light? There is no info in the descriptions.

Re: Peak LED solut.\'s Atlantic 1W?

There is a picture of it HERE on the Peak website. Looks like it will be nice. Can't wait to see some of the reviews.

Re: Peak LED solut.\'s Atlantic 1W?

Yes I have seen that picture, but havent examined it closely yet. I predict it is some kind of 2 123 light. Probably a heck of a lot of runtime in it. If it is a 1 watt powered by 2 or more 123s, I would expect a LOT of runtime.
If they havent even added specs to it on the website, then it must be very new.

Re: Peak LED solut.\'s Atlantic 1W?

MJ from Peak has addressed the Atlantic 1W in the Manufacturers section. Here are the specs:
Single CR123A battery
Runtime 2.5 hours to 50%
Brighter than Arc LSH-P
Twisty tailcap to turn on

Just checked Peak's site and there is Atlantic 1w AA and AAA versions coming soon. Can't wait for the reviews...

Re: Peak LED solut.\'s Atlantic 1W?

Don't anyone think this looks like one of TNC's AA?

Re: Peak LED solut.\'s Atlantic 1W?

Seems Im getting more questions than answers... We all better wait for a while, but I am sure there will be more info soon.

Re: Peak LED solut.\'s Atlantic 1W?

Did you see the other 'soon to come' lights? They have a 3W and a 5W in the works.

It uses their standard McKinley body with a single 123 cell, twist on-off. It's about 3 1/2 inches long with the removable tail piece. Does use a reflector. I couldn't get a MSRP on it yet. I forgot to ask about the electronics....duh.

Re: Peak LED solut.\'s Atlantic 1W?

Details on the 1W Atlantic are up on their webpage.

Retail 119.95
Candle Power: 740 to 760cp
Diameter: 0.98in ( Head ) 0.78in ( body ) 3.5in. (length )
Weight: 2.0oz

Battery Life: 2.5hours to 50%- 5 hours

Re: Peak LED solut.\'s Atlantic 1W?

740 to 760cp is 60 Lumens. This from a 1W LED. Sounds similar to that other 1W 60 Lumen light(LRI Proton prototype 60 lumens with 1 AA for 3 hr. runtime.)

Re: Peak LED solut.\'s Atlantic 1W?

How did you do that conversion??

Re: Peak LED solut.\'s Atlantic 1W?

Candlepower(Candela) divided by 12.57 = Lumens
I see the Peak is rated at 40+ lumens HERE

Only if you have a perfect round radiator which radiates the same light intensity in any direction.
Which is very, very obvioulsly not the case here.

A bare incandescent bulb hanging from a wire comes to close to that.

The same here. Only a LiFe AA cell will deliver 1W for 3h. And 1W to a LED fed by a single AA cell will need about 1.3W input (Step up from lower voltage is less efficient).

Your values about the luminous flux are not realistic. Or maybe only a deacde too early....

Re: Peak LED solut.\'s Atlantic 1W?

120 BUCKS?? That seems a bit much for a 1W Luxeon. Probably the market will bear some of that, but I don't think they will be flying of the shelves at the price. I'm glad I got my seven LED McKinley before they dropped that line.

$120 seems like a reasonable price considering Arc's LS line of lights used to go for about $100 - $150 if I remember correctly.
