peak two stage mod?

The Pacific has a regulator that kicks out when the battery can't supply the voltage/current required and it will rapidly drop off to a long "tail" to provide emergency light for many hours. All you need is a resistor (~ 5 ohms) to simulate the battery getting low and that will provide a low output. The trick is to put a SMT resistor in their momentary switch.

Interesting info! I wasn't aware that peaks even had a momentary switch. I knew the whole twisty two stage thing must be possible, because millermods did it with the arc aaa...

 indeed.

I'd heard a very faint rumour that Peak was considering making a simple resistor based two stage switch that would fit into keychain bodies similar to the momentary switch... so perhaps if enough people post an interest in such an upgrade... ;) :poke::poke:

I have always been very impressed with Peaks quality and I do have several Peak lights. As far as my personnel inventory of lights Peak holds second place as far as number of lights own. I have never had one problem with any light I purchased so I am a big fan of Peaks quality.

I have always felt Peak would benefit tremendously if they would offer a multi level light (the smaller lights). Multi level is the trend and I do see a lot of post on the CPF with comments with the poster stating they will no longer buy a single level light. I have been in situations when the ability to conserve battery power became very important so it is not just a wiz bang gee wiz type need. I do not see multi level as that big of a deal for the longer running lower lumen lights but the higher power lights would benefit from this feature. I do feel the Caribbean and Kino Bay would sell big time if they were multi level. I believe these models are the size that most CPFers would buy first if they where multi level lights but it is just a guess. I know I would have a very strong interest in these light if they where multi level.

Maybe the new soon to be released Manua Loa or the Vesuvius will be multi level. BTW any news on these lights Robyn?
