Any of these or others besides Zebralight (I already have 1 coming) that will start or can be programmed or remember last setting so it starts in low mode? I have the Princeton EOS 4 mode 50 lumen and only flaw for me is it starts in HIGH. It's funny, my cheapest headlamp is my River Rock 2xAAA and it starts in low. If that headlamp was more efficient and maybe a whiter tint I probably would never need to look elsewhere. So what other AAA headlamps start in LOW?

The EOS Tactical starts off in low mode first, or at least my older generation 25 lumen model does and that is one reason why I prefer it to the standard EOS. The Tactical also has filters for use in red, blue, and green and with the older spot only beam profile, the lenses worked great as a diffuser, especially the green one and the green was so soft, I sometimes forgot that I had the cover filter over the optic.

So basically, the newer 45 lumen Tactical EOS should also start off in low mode unless they changed that feature on the newer version. Why is the Tactical 45 Lumens and the standard EOS 50 Lumens, well, you got me but I wouldn't be suprised if it were just an error on their site and I recall from a previous email to PT, they said that all EOS models have now been upgraded to the frosted optic with the Rebel Led. Personally, if I were you, I would call PT just to confirm that the Tactical comes on in low mode just to be sure and let me/us know because that is the best feature of the Tactical IMHO because since they frosted the optic, I am guessing that the flip up lenses won't be so necessary due to the difuse spot of the new optic unless you want or need the colored lenses.

Whatever you do, should you decide on the Tactical make darn sure that the one you are buying has the lumen output listed in writing. Brightguy is the best at stating output levels up front because PT may still be using some old packaging, although I believe this is slowly changing, so make sure that you are buying the model that you want and if in doubt shop elsewhere that can give you output confirmation.

Actually, I don't think that Brightguy has the newest EOS tactical but you can order direct from the PT website.

Thanks for that news Saabgoblin. Anyone else know if the other manufacturers lights will start in low?

Hello again Beacon, I was just on the PT site and tried to add the EOS Tactical just for kicks and the 25 lumen version popped up on the order page so even PT's site can be a little misleading FYI.
