Petzl Myo XP questions...

Re: does light look pure white or bluish?

oh,Ok. I assumed the beamshot test was done on myo XP light. Does the myo XP light produce flood light or more narrow beam?
Petzl claims the high beam throw is 65m. Is this an exaggeration ?

Re: does light look pure white or bluish?

This thread should answer your questions regarding beam shape and color. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: does light look pure white or bluish?

thanks for the thread wyeast.

Re: does light look pure white or bluish?

I have a question about the bost mode.
When you press and release the button , does it stay on for 20 seconds, or does it stay on until you release the button. I mean could you have it on boost for only 3 seconds or are you forced to have it on for the whole 20 seconds once you press the button?
thanks

Re: does light look pure white or bluish?

offroad, it only stays on while you hold the button down, for a max duration of 20 secs.

Re: does light look pure white or bluish?

So who is a reliable dealer with low prices on the XP?

Brightguy.com has it for $64.95. Unless you get some kind of discount, most dealers have 'em for $69.95. When I got mine from Eastern Mountain Sports on Memorial Day Weekend, they had it on sale for 20% less.

Re: does light look pure white or bluish?

Thanks Greg. I may as well order a Freedom Max at the same time. Been wanting one. Brightguy Greg is a good guy.

Re: is it 1 watt or 3 watts

So is the XP a 1 watt or a 3 watts. Some of you refer to it as 1 watt and some a 3 watts . In petzel site and anyone who sells it there is no reference to what it is . Those of you that have tested a few light what does its max output compare to..

Re: is it 1 watt or 3 watts

I bought one of these for my sister a month ago, and I have to say I'm disappointed by the runtime graph in the review at flashlightreviews:

http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews/petzl_myoxp.htm

No evidence of regulation at all! Has anyone tried using the Battery Station Lithium AA's in this to extend the runtime? There's another post that they are consistently 1.9v- that seems a little dangerous.

And is there some other headlight I'm missing that has a Luxeon led, uses AA and is actually regulated?

Re: is it 1 watt or 3 watts

I got my XP Friday. I like it so far.

de55jay. I compared an Aleph 1 (nexgen 750) to the XP. It's a bit difficult as they are not near alike.
Color. Aleph=white, XP=a bit of a yellow tint.
Focus. Alpeh=tight, XP=Wide.
Output.XP on burst, close to Aleph. On high, Aleph wins, hands down.
IMHO, The XP does have a LUX-III but not a great one. My Aleph has a TYOJ emmitter.

Will petzl drop the price for myo XP? it seems quite expensive. I hope other competitors come up with similar models but with more powerful beam

It does seem a little overpriced. It should have a heatsink, regulation and a better binned LED.

Petzl will maybe not, but the exchange rate will .-)

I've ordered a Black Diamond Zenix IQ to replace the Petzl. That complete lack of regulation really bugs me, I thought I read somewhere right after it was released that it was regulated. Oh well.

I had a spec sheet on lighting from REI that listed the Myo XP as regulated. The sheet was printed before the XP was out yet, so they might not have had the correct info.

It was knownb from the beginning that it is not regulated. I do not know when you got that spec sheet, but I wrote that back in October......

anyone used myo xp for jogging yet?

Has anyone gone jogging with myo XP yet?
