So I bought a Petzl Tikka XP2 today. Great light, super popular, excellent feature list etc. The beam is actually pretty good for an relatively inexpensive light [and also compared to other Petzls I've owned] and also considering that it doesn't use a reflector. That said, the bond wires are super visible in the beam, I've never seen anything like it. I'm not generally too picky, but I was a little surprised. Maybe I'm just used to Ras, SureFires and Malkoffs ... and just expecting too much. Not that it's going to affect it's performance in the field, but it was, none-the-less, surprising to me.

Anyone else with a Tikka XP2 have the same "issue"?

hurricane, everyone with the Tikka XP2 have this issue :grin2:

Thanks Szemhazai, I actually skimmed your review and didn't really notice the bond wires in your beam shots. I see them now after a night of sleep.

It's a pretty ugly beam, even compared to a Petzl Myo XP Belt ... and next to my Surefire U2 it's downright deplorable. Those "tests" of course were conducted on a white wall; I'm heading-out kayaking this weekend and I'm sure it will function just fine. It's a shame that it's not regulated though ... oh well it's hard to get it all.
