Hi guys,

It's time for another flashaholics get together in NJ. Yes it's time for PF3, (Photon Fest 3)! For those of you who were not at the first two, they were simple get togethers with about 15-20 flashaholics. We met at Milkyspit's house in Califon NJ. He lives out in the sticks. It gets very dark there, a great place to play with...uh I mean test our lights. Directly across from his house is a huge field and there is an abandoned quarry only a short walk away.

Anyway I spoke to Milkyspit, and he is up for hosting PF3. His only request is if you are sick or even think you might be getting sick please don't come. The get together is in his house and he and his wife just had a baby a few weeks ago, and understandably they don't want any extra bad germs in the house.

Everyone usually brings something, such as soda, bottled water, cookies, bag of chips, pretzles, etc. Some of us even brought some little give aways such as key chain lights, and other flashaholic related items to give away to eachother. At some point we usually go out to a pizza or sub shop for our more substantial meal.

Additionally, there is usually a show-and-tell time, when we show off our new/old/and interesting lights. So please bring all the lights you can. There is time for swap meet/for sale stuff, so bring some extra cash. (I myself plan on bringing more than 20 lights to sell). And of course after dark we usually go out and light up the night. The quarry is a great place to test out your favorite lights.

We want to give everyone some lead time so that they can arrange to be there. Three weeks is usually enough advanced notice, however that puts us right at Thanksgiving weekend, which doesn't work out. So the following Saturday, which is December 4th is the tentative date.

Also please inform any other NY, NJ, CT, PA etc, flashaholics who might want to attend, not everyone frequents this area and might miss it. And note that this is a good opportunity to bring those "closet" flashaholics to. They can see what its all about and walk away with a good deal on a light.

Please stay tuned to this area for updates, including a
firm date/time and directions.

I guess it's Califon, since when I mapquested Calafon, I got nuthin' Looks to be about 60 miles from NYC, an hour 15, mapquest sez. Cool, I'll be there if work allows!

Ok the date is set, Saturday December 4th it is. Time yet to be announced, however I would assume sometime around 11am. I'll confirm that soon.

daloosh - you are correct, Califon.

Provided I don't have to work, I'll be there! 180 miles of driving doesn't scare me... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I am a bit young. Dont know if my parents might drive me.... Are 12 year olds allowed? I understand this is surprising but understand....

Mags_suk, I'm not Michael Jackson and this ain't no Neverland, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif so you'd probably be fine. If anyone else has objections, they might as well post them here... and if so, please don't take them personally. As for me, I'm fine with you attending BUT ONLY if your parents know about it and give you their blessing to attend. (And yes, possibly drive you out here.)

Guess I'm saying it's up to your parents and the feelings of the other attendees! I'm officially neutral. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Forgot to mention: I've got a slew of lights here and am itching to sell some of them off! Might consider trades, too, in certain circumstances. Lately I've been specializing in the "small but bright" category, heh heh... a partial lineup...

Bring lights, snacks and money! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

(Plus a warm coat and sturdy shoes if you intend to visit the quarry. And you should! I mean, how many abandoned 1800s limestone quarries do you REALLY get to explore in the dark of night with pockets full o' flashlights?) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sorry I can't come. About 100 miles from NY and my parents threw a fit when I showed them the map..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Even if I did pay for the gas, my parents said no time..... But I am interested in buying one of those nice lights

Not sure if I can make it, been very busy on the weekends.

Just in case, is anyone willing to give a ride from NYC?

Edited to add:
Unfortunately, I have too many things that need to be done during the weekends before year-end. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif

WooHoo!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/party.gif Count me... aw crap, I've moved. I had a great time at the last one, it's too bad I can't come up there on "business" and then scoot over.

Everyone have a great time!

I might be able to, I'll have to drive through NY (not exactly pleasurable, but the destination is what matters! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif ) anyway to get there. Currently I'm scheduled to work that night, but I should be able to trade off that day.

Hey Scott,

Can you PM me your addy? I'd like to MapQuest it to check mileage. I live in Delaware now. I guess I could bring a Mag85, Vector2MCP, and the Aurora.
