Photobucket accused of selling users' data to train AI without their consent

Doesn't surprise me anymore than most social, apps, and other online sources do the same. The secret is to not have anything worth hiding. Hoping they ban TikTok. I doubt selling it will prevent a back door.

Many "free" sites sell your data. Pretty much all of the third party share sites. If you read the terms of service they come right out and tell you they share your info. It's how they make revenue.

Have you ever seen one of your photos in a google search? That's why you see some videos and blog posts where the person is backwards. That's why some of my photos here have backward logos.

Every time you upload a picture, your photos metadata has the following in it:

  • Time and date of creation.
  • Program or processes used for the creation of the data.
  • Purpose of the data.
  • Creator or author of the data. (who you are)
  • Location on a device where the data was created. (your location exactly)
  • Technical standards used.
  • File size.
  • Data quality.

I remember back when everyone loved Photobucket.
Free accounts. You could easily upload pics. So simple, so loved....
Yeah, those days are gone!!!
