Photon X vs. Photon 2

Just got in a shipment of goodies, including a couple of the new Photon X keychain lights. It is much bigger than I expected:

It is also brighter by the smallest of margins than the Photon 2 (new batteries in the Photon 2 before taking these beamshot comparisons) - X is on the right:

Because of its recessed led (covered on top and bottom by the case, but open on the two sides) it has a kinda weird, longitudinal beam:

But the best part is that the Photon X has a push-on, push-off switch which, although kinda stiff, is what many folks, especially novice light users, might be used to. And the fact I got'em for about $6 bucks shipped...to Hawaii!

WTF?

What's the advantage with this light (other than the X-Men tie-in)? It's only marginally brighter? Then why is it so big?

So is this a special "MR Bulk price" or can peons like myself purchase these somewhere? Inquiring minds (well, at least one mind) want to know.

PS Actually, the logo reminds me of the Cingular stick figure.

Hi John,

Actually I have two, got'em from this knife distributor I buy from, they started recently carrying all sorts of flashoholic stuff (and I thought I had quit ordering from them for good, dang).

Anyway you can have'em for the $6 apiece, plus shipping, as I don't like'em. Too big and too stiff (sure wish she had said that to me las...NEVERMIND!!!). If you want'em please e-mail me.

A ride-sharing company called "Flex Car" in the Seattle area uses the same symbol. I've also read in another thread that the symbol is similar to that used on a type of palm pilot.
