Ok, so the big flared out head and then a silver one??? Are these weird or aftermarket add on and a fake? Thanks for any information.

Wow, it's always good to know when you pick up something uncommon, thanks. So is the black or the silver that is more rare? I have two pics with one on each side. I have never seen one in silver before. Is the red filter an add on or would it have come with it from the factory?

The bigass head is an original "Turbo head", usually seen on an old model called a "12P". They did offer conversion kits, but I don't remember one for a 6volt light (what it's attached to in your pic). The 12P was a 4-cell/12 volt light. The naked aluminum 6P isn't as rare, but it's rare enough. Good scores.

The silver one was called gun metal and was built in lower quantities than black body lights. When the 6P was reintroduced (with antiroll head) the gunmetal versions were aimed at the Japanese market. Not sure about round version though.

A 6P with turbohead is more rare though.

Makes sense that they also built the "small" models with turbohead, when the more powerful ones were available in that setup.

On the other hand...
... Turboheads were, imho, never very popular, because their "advantage" needed a very, very special aereal setup to come into play
(at least my impression, when using the 9N vs. the 9NT)

And with the small 6P the turbo counteracts the main feature of especially this light: small size

Well the turbo heads counteracted any lights, making them much bigger to bring along.

Still: both nice finds.
make nice Shelf queens

Ok, so last night I put the head on my 9P and it of course was much brighter. On the 6P very dim, so I think it should only be on a light with more power. The head is devoid of any markings whatsoever. I know I didn't get hurt as I gave $20 for both lights and an old Glock field knife.

A guy that I bought a couple of round body lights off of came by and gave me some bulbs. M3 Tactical, but not LED. There were three of these LED bulbs however. Are they any good or just Chinese junk?

The head on the right was taken apart by a hack.
I could be wrong but it looks like a P60 head from here.
One of the cheap things about the chinese heads is they use that flimsy
little spring instead of the heavy duty ones like those made by Surefire.

Not sure since I don't do rechargeable batteries,
I believe that a 4.2 volt head is for rechargeable batteries.

First off WOW, we haven't seen Surefire Turboheads around here in awhile. Don't be swapping that Turbohead lamp around without confirming if it's the 6v/9v/12v version. Sounds like you put it on a 9V light and it didn't explode so that's good.

What letters/numbers are stamped on that blue turbohead lamp? Yeah, we're gonna need some close-up shots of the lamp itself. Pull it out and look at it, there should be something inscribed on the little ledge under the bulb that touches the back of the reflector. Don't touch the glass part of the bulb with your fingers. I forget what the blue one is, but I'm guessing it's an "N2" since it was nice and bright on a 9P.

Those are worth a pretty penny! Excellent score!

The "Ultrafire" unit appears to be meant for a single Li-ion rechargeable, which hits 4.2v when full charged. You can fit those in a 6P, the bulk of it should settle down in the body of light. Sometimes you gotta experiment with tape and stuff.

Here's my 6P with an H17Fx module I put together. No outer spring just some tape.

I just searched for Surefire N1 lamp.
A few old retail sites came up like B&H photo video etc.
Of course it's not in stock, but it looks just like the one above (blue). 6v, 65 lumens for 1hr just like a p60, for the KT1 turbohead (2 cell lights) conversion.
