I was interested in buying the pila gl2 or g2. What is the difference between these? are there any options where i wont have to buy the lamp assembly for 3.7 volt operation?

The only difference between the two is that the GL2 has the LED tailcap and the G2 has a pushbutton. If you want to use rechargeable li-ion batteries in these models then you will need the GL2R or G2R. These versions come with a 3.7v lamp module. If you want to use CR123 in either, then you will also need a 6V bulb. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Just looked at your site. I didnt see the model you listed. Also, what voltage does the Luxeon 3W LED assembly you have run on? would it work with any of the pila lights? or fit for surefire only? =\

do you know where i can buy the GLR2?

Also, is there a difference between the "pushbutton" tailcap switch and the "clicky" switch? On JSB's site, he offers the gl2 with a led or clicky tailcap switch i think... i probably should have waited untill i got back from school till i asked, but i'm quite curious =\ So i'm asking a question without knowing what i'm talking about. I have no intention of ever running it off of normal cr123 lithium photocells.

The "clicky" and "pushbutton" are the same switch...just different ways of describing it.

You can just order a G2 or GL2. If you want the rechargeable version you can order the 3.7V lamp and 168A battery in the accessory section. This way you will have the 6V bulb as well in case you ever want to run CR123 in a pinch.

ooh, and don't forget.. the G2/G2R lights are rated to be waterproof up to 3m, while the GL2/GL2R lights are rated as "splashproof"

I don't know how much of a difference this will make to you, unless you plan to go swimming with your light...

Thanks! that's what i was looking for. I'm guessing i have to buy a new lamp assembly each time it burns out? oh well, i'll look into it. thanks! I looked at at that webpage, and it showed a lot of pila lights.. i thought that was all they stocked. my bad.

yep, the bulb assembly and reflector are integrated. however, the filament seems to be very sturdy. I've dropped, and pounded on my pila for a few months, and the bulb is still going strong.

the reflector has seen better days though.

JSB's Pila GLR3 Passaround has survived more shipping than probably any other piece of equipment in known history and it's still going strong. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
