It looks to me like the brightness difference between the 6500k and 5700k versions is noticeable, but isn't especially dramatic.
I agree that the warmer color would be better for outdoors (as is subjectively noticeable in the driveway/flowers pics posted by download). I would say that I plan to use the light about equally indoors and outdoors, but almost never outdoors with no ambient light around. Makes me think the 6500K might be the one for me.
I see what you mean about the cool white being a little more harsh when used for a long time.
I'm think I'm going to sleep on this and make a decision tomorrow - I'm leaning toward 6500K though.
