Thanks very much OneBigDay, your description and pics are very helpful.

It looks to me like the brightness difference between the 6500k and 5700k versions is noticeable, but isn't especially dramatic.

I agree that the warmer color would be better for outdoors (as is subjectively noticeable in the driveway/flowers pics posted by download). I would say that I plan to use the light about equally indoors and outdoors, but almost never outdoors with no ambient light around. Makes me think the 6500K might be the one for me.

I see what you mean about the cool white being a little more harsh when used for a long time.

I'm think I'm going to sleep on this and make a decision tomorrow - I'm leaning toward 6500K though.

Again, thanks for going through the trouble to provide the comments and images!

Dave

Download, looks like a good light! I'll keep it in mind for your next run. Can the light be run continuously on "high" without overheating, or should "high" mode only be used for a few minutes?

nfetterly, Thanks!

lostinwv, if you see carefully inside the car window, 6500K ~10% more.
In close range, like 6m, 6500K is perfect. After that, warm tint may reflect more rich in color.

RichS, sorry, mode percentages is preset, can't be changed.
OneBigDay, :goodjob:
space-time, depend on how to handle the heat dissipation, like riding a bike, or snowy night outdoor, it will be fine for continuously on "high".
Otherwise, hold in hand at room temperature, switch to lower mode when you feel hot is a smart move.

jdriller, list updated.
:thanks:

Hey Download,

I have already sent the down payment, and you have me on the list, but i wanted to specify my options.

6500k
Mode 1 ( low mid high strobe SOS )
GITD switch.

Think this is prety much the "standard" configuration anyway, but just to be sure:thinking:.

If no one else signs up for the last 2 HAIII offerings, i would be interested in getting a second light.

Thanks!

P.S. Would you be interested in doing some "custom" work based on this offering? (for a bike aplication) If so i could PM you with what I am thinking of.

It looks to me like the brightness difference between the 6500k and 5700k versions is noticeable, but isn't especially dramatic.

Careful. Note that those shots are of two different emitters, a cool white SST-50 and a warm white SST-90. Not exactly apple-to-apples, if you catch my drift.

For those on the fence regarding the neutral or warm tint SST-50, the 4500K version is what MAC uses in his SST-50 EDC custom light - which says a lot to me. Here's what he had to say about this emitter:

The 4500k LED's are not as warm as the Cree-5a's and in my opinion are perfect. The color rendition of the 4500k LED in my opinion is far superior and is what's in my EDC.

700 lumens in a edc sounds superb.
Only thing is the light output sequence.

Is it possible to get the following order:
100%, strobe, 30%, 5%
With no memory (so always starts out at 100%)

h22, PM sent. 🙂

GJW, highly not recommemded, driver will heat up very fast.

Gryffin & RichS,

Roland, mode is preset, can't be changed. Sorry.

Will close this run in 24hrs. Please let me know any changes of LED.
:thanks:

Aluminum option one with the five settings please. Do I have t choose between Matte finish or natural? If so why do the two look like?

Good point Gryffin, I hadn't noticed that. Thanks.

Poetrybo, Matte finish for Titanium version only, HAIII natural for Aluminium version.

After all of the input I've received, I've decided to go with the default 6500K LED option.

Download, that means my order summary is:

HA III Natural
SST-50-W65S-F21-GJ100
Low-Mid-High (no strobe/no SOS)
Black Tailcap

I'm really looking forward to receiving this light!

Dave

Just to confirm, I'd like the standard build:

Black switch cover.
SST-50-W65S-F21-GJ100 -----> 6500K
Default 3 level setting (Low, Mid, High)

-DF

Is there any memory in the driver or does it always start at low?
Any memory with any of the various options?

Assuming no memory I'd like:
1. Low, Mid, High, Strobe & SOS.

Default boot and default cool LED.

:thanks:

OK, I'll make it official, too:

Aluminum / HA-III
GITD switch cover
SST-50-W65S-F21-GJ100 (6500K)
Default 3 level setting (Low, Mid, High)

OK, folks, stop throwing questions at the man, he needs time to build these lights!!! 😀
