Candle Power Flashlight Forum

Help Support CPF:

Hi Dave,

I wanted to let you know that I am good with all the default options for my Ti version #13 light.

LED: SST-50-W65S-F21-GJ100 6500K cool white
Switch levels: Default 3 level setting (Low, Mid, High)
The switch cover: Black by default.

Thanks again for producing this awesome light with all the great options.

JM

Thanks all,

6th run is closed. Please do not pay for any reservation.
Will order the LED within 12hrs. Please let me know if any changes.

GJW, mode 1. (Low, Mid, High, Strobe & SOS) have memory, and can't always start at low.
That's mean the mode will rotate like: ...... Low, Mid, High, Strobe, SOS, Low, Mid, High, Strobe, SOS, Low, Mid, High ...... with memory your last mode.

I wish you success. It looks like a real nice light. If the light intencity sequence would havee been different I would have gotten one right away too.

download - I don't know about everyone else, but I love that band of diamond knurling around the tailcap of the Ti vs. the rectangular knurling design on the HA version. Do you have the ability/would you be willing to use the same diamond knurling on the HA version as on the Ti version if the majority preferred it?

Just a question - doesn't hurt to ask...:naughty:

Can't wait to get this light!!

-Rich

Gotcha. Would you please put me back to the dafault then?
Low, Mid, High -- no memory.
Thanks

Roland, please wait patiently.

RichS, most of the parts are reserved already. The knurling design can't be change in this run. Sorry.

GJW, the dafault (Low, Mid, High) -- do have memory.
:thanks:

No problem at all download, I was just curious. If you are able to offer some HA tailcaps w/ diamond knurling on your next run (if there is enough interest), it would be a nice option.

Thanks again. BTW - I really appreciate how responsive you are to everyone's questions (big or small) about your custom products. Having quality products is great, but I think good responsiveness and service is just as important. And you have both going for you! :twothumbs

download,

Are the host bodies on these lights custom made by you or are these production lights and then modified by you? And is the diamond knurling on the HAIII host a possibility on the next run?
I might be in for one if you have another run of these lights. Thanks.

RichS & paintballdad,
It is small production lights with really tough HAIII. I just mix and match.
For diamond knurling, will try to reserve more Ti version next run.
:thanks:

Careful. Note that those shots are of two different emitters, a cool white SST-50 and a warm white SST-90. Not exactly apple-to-apples, if you catch my drift.

Yeah, sorry guys if I led anyone astray (no pun intended). Trying to be helpful, but my pics were definitely trying to give a clue on tint differences ONLY, not brightness. lostinwv, I'm sure you'll be happy with the output of the 6500k!

Sounds like everyone has settled in with their choices anyway, so now hurry up and wait!

Other lights running the sst-50 at 2.8a are recommending IMR cells. I just want to make sure that the AW 2600mah li-ion 18650 will be ok before I go ahead and order it.

I was wondering what battery to use as well. I'm thinking about the AW 18650, but I don't know whether to go with the 2200 mah or 2600 mah. I've gotten the impression that there is no difference between these two, aside from the 2600 offering longer run time. Is this correct?

What other battery 18650 choices are you guys considering for this light, and why?

Sorry if this is taking the thread too far off topic. Perhaps I should be asking this in the battery forum?

Dave

The 2200 from AW is a button-top which helps it work with more flashlights designed for primaries.
Don't know if that makes a difference with this light, or not, but it's a consideration.

Hi people, sorry but I've only just found this thread and now have to ask if there'll be a 7th run? This light is what I've been looking for...

Small - Check
Bright - Check
Tail Stand - Check
Streamlined (not bumpy like D-mini) Check
GITD switch - Check
18650 - Check
CR123 - (maybe on low?)
Waterproof - ??

I just wish I'd seen this before they were all gone!! 🙁

The AW 2600 Li-ion will work just fine with this light. It's what I'm going to use. It is safe to to discharge a li-ion up to 2C. For the 2600mAH capactity AW18650, this equates to around 5A. Since this is only 2.8A, this is well within the safe limits and gets you close to an hour of runtime. I think some may be using the IMRs on direct drive SST-50 lights to increase the output as they will cause a higher amp draw (less voltage sag). IMO, this will just increase the heat as a 2.8a draw on the SST-50 in this small of a light would be about the heat limit. After that, you reach a point of diminishing returns due to heat.

This leads to a question for download (sorry if you answered this elsewhere): Is this a direct drive or regulated light? If direct drive, should we not use an IMR 18650? I've heard that some are getting 4+ amp draws off a single IMR1860 driving the SST-50, and I'm wondering if that would damage the LED in a light of this size. Thanks.

This Pocket Rocket can accept flat-top and button-top battery.

For the battery, although the IMR can delivery high current in dischage, but they have only ~half capacity of latest Li-ion. Not much gain.
The most important is safety first, the protected li-ion 18650 is highly recomemded.

Bad news:
The SST-50-W57S-F21-GJ200 (5700K) have no stock, and need 13 Week Factory Lead Time. I did not order it yet, will wait a few more days to see.

Good news:
SST-50-W45S-F21-GH400 - (4500K) ordered

Should be here a week or so.

:thanks:
