I had an extra Surefire C3 sitting around not doing anything after I got a Surefire M3 Combat light, so I though I would play. I searched B/T/S and Ebay for various components to build a nice little Lego set. First purchase was a KT2 Turbo head with 2 lamp assemblies, a MN15, and MN16, let me tell you this is a sweet little light setup just like this, but I wanted to have more fun. I then found a Z48 clicky switch to add to the functionality for me. My next purchase was a Detonator 1-cell extender from Lighthound, and a MN-61 LA, just for the fun and WOW factor of all those lumens (more than I need most of the time), but there was something missing. I had to think hard (but not to hard) about my next purchase so I decided to add an LED option to the set and bought a Malkoff M60LL dropin to make things complete. After adding up the totals of all this I could have easly bought a M4 with money left over, but I wouldn't have had the fun or functionality of what I have now.

Stock C3 good all around light that is easy to carry.
Stock C3 with Malkoff Droppin, same as above but long runtime.
C3 with added Turbo head, good medium throw light.
C3, Turbohead, and battery extender, great throw light when needed.

I don't let anybody tell me that it's just a poormans M4, it means alot more to me than that.

I've got a very simular setup! Its a 9P, KT2, KL3 w/diffuser, A19, SC2, MN15, MN16, and MN60 LAs. My base configuration is with the MN15 LA. When the output starts to noticably sag I use the KL3 and get about an hours worth of regulation on the incan's leftovers. The KL3 with the beam diffuser gives a really nice soft flood of light. I like this setup because I can carry 2 reloads in the SC2 and it is plenty bright for most of my needs.

Poor is such a subjective term. How can you say poor when the masses think (stock) Maglights are king?!

My M3-based M4gery is my main superthrower.

I had a similar setup before I bought my M4 a couple of years ago. I had a SureFire 9P with the turbohead and an A19 extender, great light, but I bought my M4 used for $200 and all of the pieces I had bought separately were about that much. I ended up selling it all later.

I gots me one of them too. 9P+A19+KT4 with C-M ring+LF EO-M3T running on two AW 17670s with a clicky. Took me the better part of a year to build, but it's more modular than an M4 and I plan to use some of those parts on new lights in the future.
