Some of the solder from the + connection is touching the ring. This isn't an issue as long as the negative connection isn't also touching, right?

I'm troubleshooting an issue with one of my mods, and am trying to rule out possibilities.

Wasn't quite sure what part of the forum to ask this in either. Mods, please move if appropriate.

It will be a problem if your reflector which is probably negative is also touching the ring.

Use a fingernail file and put a gap between the solder and the ring.

Fortunately, there's no reflector or any moving parts to worry about, so it's good on that front. Also, the LED does light... it's just stuck on low with the driver that's pushing it. I assume if there was a short of both pos and neg across the ring, the Cree simply wouldn't light up, correct?

I'm getting help with troubleshooting the driver, but decided to ask here about the solder on the ring, as to avoid pestering the person any more than neccessary during a weekend.

Nake - great idea. I kinda' have to redo the connections anyway though. Barely got enough heat into them to stick, and they're really weak. It's true what they say about soldering Cree's when they're on a heatsink.
