Hi

I have been running the Toshiba HIR 9011/9012 combo for about 18months now.

After doing two harness installs, one for the HIR lamps and the other for the HID fogs, one of my 9011 bulbs failed.

I prob can replace the one 9011 easily enough right now, but what are my options for the future as these Toshiba HIR bulbs have been discontinued ?

How many lumens do the X-treme Power from Phillips produce? Are they available in 9005/9006 ?

Should I go Catz Zeta and use the best bulb available?

Thanks for the feedback. A great site.

See this thread. The Xtreme Power is the best 9005 and 9006 presently on the market, but even the best 9006 produces less light than a 9012/HIR2, and even the best 9005 produces less light than a 9011/HIR1. Also, the 9011/9012 have much longer lifespan than a high-performance 9005/9006 like the Xtreme Power.

Catz Zeta = dumb toy. Remember, bulb life is exponential to the power negative thirteen with voltage change.

if voltage affects output to the +3.5 and life to the -13, then is getting a relay harness to increase voltage still a good idea?

Hi

Thanks for the responses. :)

I was able to recently replace a 9011 that recently was damaged due to being dropped. It didn't break but beyond a initial flash, no longer illuminated.

However, since these are discontinued, the writing is on the wall.

With these 9011 and 9012s being on a relay harness, and very clean reflector/lenses, light output is great..best I have ever had and don't want to go back to stock 9005/06 oem output.

Does anyone know what the lumens output of the x treme power bulbs are?

The Phillips HIR2 bulbs seem promising. Any knew information when they are coming to market and output?

The Catz Zeta may be possible if bulb life expectency is reasonable relative to output. Its subjective but data on these is hard to come by.

That depends whether you prioritize bulb life or nighttime safety.

Huh? It's not subjective. It's objective.

Subjective as its based on what the owner is willing to tolerate regarding bulb replacement rate.
