I had ordered a 350mA Powerpuck by the Luxdrive people a long time ago for another LED project and did not need it then. Since a couple of you have used the Powerbuck and such looking for something easy for regulation, I decided to try my luck and see what would happen with a Cree Q5, a Powerpuck, and two CR123 lithium.

After having fun soldering the leads to a Cree emitter I can report that although you will not be able to fit one of these down the tube of a D sized M@glite (you would have to carefully sand off around 1/16 of an inch off the puck to make it fit), I did draw exactly 0.349mA according to my Fluke model 87 multimeter (calibrated around 3 years ago). Plently bright too.

This was my first real project. Soldering emitters wasn't fun, but I did what you guys said and tinned everything first and it worked. Thank you all. Now on to the first project.
