Pr-t head

Don't let that deter you from buying one Clickie. (No offense intended, Kiessling).
It is an EXCELLENT head if you can find one. Seems like mine are as bright as a
Cree. Wonderful lights. If I have any favorites it would be my PR-T heads.

Ditto!

They`re great pieces of McGizmo past works of art.

:)

I am pretty sure they are E series compatible. I've never had one, but thats what i've always seen.

The PR`s and the PR-T`s are E series compatible.

Prior the Cree`s and the Seoul`s coming onto the scene, my primary EDC for years was one of Don`s PR-T`s , with a Lux III driven by a 750mA converter, and hosted on a McLux 1X123 battery holder, with a Kroll clickie switch. A stunning combination.

When the Cree A19 XR-E`s came out (with the original GD 825 converter), I swapped the PR-T out with the A19 head. This Cree A19/McLux body/Kroll switch is now my EDC mainstay.

I still miss the old "McGizmo PR-T days", though, on a regular and periodic basis.

:)

With a little effort you can re-build a PR/PR-T head. Getting the epoxied can out is the hard part. I had to crush in the downboy in there to get a hold of the ECAN and yank it out. Tear the emitter out and clean up the epoxy/paste.

Get yourself a new ECAN if the old one is in bad shape and upgrade to a Seoul. The PR would be better because of the heatsink fins, but I like my "New" LuxV DD Green Monster even if it gets too hot after 5minutes running on 2xR123s

Hi guys ! Just found this one.

I recently got a PR-T also. I managed to get the can out without any problems,
and also the emitter. I must say that the focus with the Cree is horrible.
At least, with the nice reflector it came with. I did not try with SSC, but I
suspect it will be much better, since the SSC beam profile matched
the Lux beam-profile best.

I'll post some pics here when ready.
Still looking for normal PR-head... Anyone ?

Cheers !!

I managed to swap the ermitter (LuxIII: UX1J) against to a SSC without taken apart the can. Only unsrewing the bezel ring and removing the reflector.
It needs to raise up the SSC for propper focus with the small copper disc.
I can highly recommend this mod.:twothumbs
The circuit is a Wiz2, 752mA driver.

Before with the LuxIII:

After the mod with the SSC:

Distance is 50 meters with the same settings.

You will be more than thrilled:twothumbs.
I modded my Barbolight U-04 (uses also the McR27 L-reflector) with a SSC....(beside a Flupic-board)....incredible gain in brightness and throw.

Thanks a lot my friend Cassian:wave:

Best regards
