Hello I am new here and trying to get the taste of a sandwich.
I love the form factor and the efficiency.
Q:
Can I actually buy one that can be set to 200 - 250mA? I would love a long lasting light with a high dome Luxeon. I think if slightly underdriven, the efficiency would be highest.
All I have seen offered so far is Wide Open converters. Any chance for an adjustable one?

There are several pre-made configurations like the BB400, NG500 etc...

If the configuration you want doesn't exist you can still order it as a custom build.

You order the converter board, LED and the BK assembly option which will tack on the manual labor cost to hand make one your way (BK style).

For a 2AA light you can use any boost converter Badboy or Nexgen. The Nexgen is more efficient, but, at the LED current they will both have similar runtimes.

Badboy will run down farther than Nexgen if you are looking to squeeze all the juice out. Nexgen will be slightly more efficient.
