The new microsoft anti-spyware just alerted me to something called "PRegScheduler MFC Corporation" attempting to pin itself to the startup menu.

I googled it, and only found a little info.
It appears to be a mild form of spyware, sending unknown data somewhere.

It can be removed by altering the registry (I am a bit uncomfortable goofing with the registry), but I simply directed the anti-spyware to block it.

I am not terribly concerned overall, since my Zonealarm should prevent it from phoning home anyway...but it still gives me the creeps!

Anyone else run into this?

Bob

PS: interesting...I now cannot enter the Underground. I wonder if there is a connection?

I *think* I read that it was possibly a reminder to register software and was used by legitimate companies. (?)

I didn't like it either (unknown data trans = delete) and so I believe I deleted it. No ill effects so far. If I find out what program loaded it I'll post it.

One reason I HATE XP. The fact that so many things have mysteriously appeared on the system...there's twice as many processes running now than were three months ago - and I haven't installed any of them!

Win98 (which I use on the laptop) I'm quite happy to argue with if something unknown appears - but the registry in XP is just a *little* on the unwieldy side...and I've avoided it so far!
