Picked up a Princeton Tec Quad the other week for a camping trip into the mountains of NC. After reading all I could find on CPF about different headlamps, I was torn between the Quad and the EOS. Since I would mostly use it for around camp and midnight runs to the bathroom, I decided on the Quad. Overall I am very pleased by the performance of this light. It is bright enough on medium power for anything around camp and on the trail to the bathhouse. Yeah we stayed at a state park with a bathhouse, have to do that with young kids. I believe that the Quad would do very well on night hikes when used on high as there is a good amount of throw along with enough side spill to keep an eye on the trail edge. This is important as this park is known for rattlesnakes. Didn't see one but I did hear one on the trail during a day hike. I can also testify that the Quad can be thrown about 10 feet by a four year old and remain unscathed. Overall I'm very pleased with this light and would highly recommend it for anyone who spends time outdoors.:twothumbs

I have both the Quad and the EOS. I like the Quad over the EOS as far as the light spill goes. However I modified my EOS with a diffused lens and the SSC P4 LED, thus it is my favorite. But since there is quite a bit of time invested in the EOS, most of the time I grab the Quad since if something happens to it, it is easy to replace. I bought all my kids the Quads over the EOS because when it comes to a headlamp, I think spill is more important than throw. A headlamp comes in handy when you want hands free and the ability to see in a wider view.....Headlamps for spill, hand helds for throw.....thus the Quad is a great headlamp.
