I have had a Peak AA 5 LED light for about a month now and noticed something today that concerns me. I have not had it on for an extended period of time until today. I was using it this morning standing on end to light a room and it was on for about 15 minutes. When I picked it up, it was very warm and upon putting it close to my face, I could hear a hissing sound coming from it while it was on. I changed the battery (both were normal alkalines) and allowed it to cool before turning it on again. This time it hissed unless it tightened the bezel more than normal and it still got very warm. Is this normal or should I be concerned. I hope if it is a problem Peak will still honor the warranty.

I'd call Peak on the phone and ask if they can fix it. They might not be able to because of their agreement not to sell multi-LED lights any more. In that case you might have to look for a modder to fix it. Yes, something sounds wrong with it.

I do plan on giving them a call on Monday. The heat of the light along with the hissing (sounds like there is a bad connection) has really got me worried about using it.

I've got a Surefire L2 that hisses a little (I think it is the low power mode). Some control circuits do that. My guess is they will have lots of replacement parts and probably will plan on still honoring warranties - that would not be the same as selling them. Lights generate heat after being on a while as do regulators in these lights. Many LED lights are made to be held in your hand which provides continuous cooling. Standing them on end for an extended period will result in some lights being to hot to comfortably grab. Since I don't have the same model you have I can't tell you if the hissing is normal so I'd say email them or call unless someone else here who has the same one cares to chime in on this.

I have a peak AAA that makes a bit of a hissing sound when turned on but it doesn't seem to be affecting the performance of the light.

None of my multi led light have got warm when using them, there is a lot of people here at cpf who has Peak lights so they might know if they are suppose to get hot. (but i have a feeling they are suppose to ceep cool)
