That seems to be common feature of twisties.

Ah, gotcha. I'm a relative newbie to "hobby" flashlights, until recently I'd be good w/ mag lights of various sizes or Surefires if I wanted to get "fancy"

Anyway, I'm learning and it's all good. Thanks for the response!

just one thing here; when the battery is going low, if i twist off then on, sometimes it would not go on, but it would after one or two twists again.
is this a sign of a low battery on these?. & when i twist off on, off on again there are now two same brightnesses, and now its off completely. seemed like 15 lumens was all i had when it died. i put a fresh one in, now all OK.
is this all normal ?.
a voltage cut off point?.

i got the HAIII. thanks.

If the high mode is very dim than it's time for a new battery. What kind battery did you use? How many hours of runtime did you get from the battery?

thanks, i didn't really calculate, but it was on high for near 60 mins I guess, so its pretty close to the stated figures im sure.
a great little light.
I had an AAA energizer ultimate, now im switching to eneloops AAA pro XX. i can see myself using this more than i really thought. using normal lithiums, this thing can eat them away easily.

thanks mbehe87 - good to know. thank you kindly.

SOLUTIONS: Length & Clip

Hello all. While I'm on this forum a lot, I don't post much unless I feel I can contribute something useful. So here goes:

First off, like many of you have said, while this light is intended for your keychain, I've heard many comments stating the the length with the QD attached is simply longer than many of us would have preferred, especially since its's essentially one long, rigid, stick on your keychain. I'm in this boat as well. While I love everything about this light (especially the emitter), my only nagging reservation has been the way it carries. This is what I did: (try not to gasp)

That's right... I drilled a (tiny) hole in the back end of it and added a split ring. The hole is above the inner groove where the ball bearing detent is. This way I can remove the split ring and go back to the QR setup later if I change my mind. But for now, I'm finding it to be perfect in its shorter form.

For those who have asked about a clip:

This clip works perfectly. Super secure and solid, as if it were made for it. Looks good, too. It's from my Olight i3.

Re: SOLUTIONS: Length & Clip

Very cool, though can you still call it a QR? :)

I gave away the only I3 I ever bought - is that a snap-on style clip?
Looks like it belongs anyway.

is that a snap-on style clip?

Yep. Snaps on like it was made for it.

...I'm sure someone will soon comment on how they prefer screw-on/in clips to snap-ons. I do too. But this one works. And I haven't come up with too many other options aside from drilling/tapping the housing.

Re: SOLUTIONS: Length & Clip

...where can I get just the pocket clip ?
thank you.

I'm not sure. I already had the light it came with. An i3S. The light runs about $25 most places.

Or or you could buy just the clip for $25 and get a free light with it...:D I've spent $25 or more on stand-alone clips for other lights.

Does anyone know if the modes can be reconfigured, or simply set to high-only...On the Beta qr copper....?
Thanks

I recently received mine and it's great. Very bright for its size and so convenient to take on and off of my key ring. Highly recommended.

You might want to be proactive and contact some of the members here who are able to mod the programming. I get the impression that Jason's forum is not heavily trafficked except his loyal customers. I have heard of a member fluerco who does programming mods for other lights. I did not do any searching for programming mods on Jason's lights, but I know I have seen the levels of his Alpha modded before, not the Beta though.

I don't believe this one is programmable.

Perhaps, but I was hoping it could be modded to be a simply high only light. Jason was little help saying the driver was custom and he didnt know much after that.
Thanks Mbehe87 and gunga
