The Beta-QR is on Massdrop if anyone is interested. They have a limited quantity of copper lights, which is the one I was going for, so I missed out. But if you want an EN or HA black then they should still be available.

I bought my first Beta-QR a few weeks ago, then bought a second. Don't have the second one yet, but the first one has a sloppy QR. Overall, I love this.....and Jason is a stand up guy. He solved an issue I had like a pro.

Here you can see my QR play.....which honestly does not bother me as I carry it without the QR in my coin pocket of my jeans.

Re: SOLUTIONS: Length & Clip

This is perfect! Did you use a drill press and if so, what size drill bit? I've been thinking of doing this myself for a lanyard ring as I like to carry mine in my coin pocket.

Hello all. While I'm on this forum a lot, I don't post much unless I feel I can contribute something useful. So here goes:

First off, like many of you have said, while this light is intended for your keychain, I've heard many comments stating the the length with the QD attached is simply longer than many of us would have preferred, especially since its's essentially one long, rigid, stick on your keychain. I'm in this boat as well. While I love everything about this light (especially the emitter), my only nagging reservation has been the way it carries. This is what I did: (try not to gasp)

That's right... I drilled a (tiny) hole in the back end of it and added a split ring. The hole is above the inner groove where the ball bearing detent is. This way I can remove the split ring and go back to the QR setup later if I change my mind. But for now, I'm finding it to be perfect in its shorter form.

For those who have asked about a clip:

This clip works perfectly. Super secure and solid, as if it were made for it. Looks good, too. It's from my Olight i3.

Hi,
Does anyone know if he is still actively selling the nickel plated QR? The post above from the 18th seems like he is, but I'm just making sure they haven't gone the way of Mac or Lummi.

Hi Bigpal,
Jason is away on vacation until 17th July, but yes... EN and HA QRs are still available. :)

Erm... Jason has managed to find time to squeeze in a window of Blue Labels amidst the ongoing Lambda Tops KS campaign... That, to me, speaks volumes about the passion he has for his work.

Re: SOLUTIONS: Length & Clip

If you have a the version of the Beta that has the play in the Quick Release, try putting a small, say 5mm, o-ring on the shaft of the brass QR. This will take up the slack. Makes it a whole different light.

I believe Jason has changed the design on the latest version.

So I didnt have a 5mm ID o-ring..I grabbed what I could at work. Way to thick...solution? Counter sink the tail end until the o-ring was almost flush with the surface...It Barely engages on the balls though...But makes a HUGE difference in the fit. Now it is how I feel it should be for such a pricey light.
The clearance in there was about .017" IIRC ..thats alot to me, as a machinist..I even had considered boring it out, pressing in (loctite as well) an aluminum plug and starting from scratch.....
But it's pretty darn nice the way it turned out with the o-ring. I may even C-sink it a bit deeper at the shop. I am sure its not square to the bore, being done with a hand drill...

Re: SOLUTIONS: Length & Clip

My Beta-QR CU arrived just in time for Christmas. THANK YOU! :)
I am very pleased with the quality of these lights. Could not be happier.
The LED colour rendering and beam is great.
The CU is something different and unique in materials on a light and I love the levels on both the dual and three mode.
Even though this is meant to be on a key chain, the light tends to ride in my pocket without the clip/ring.
Its so compact and unobtrusive.

Next is Nickel version to round out the trifecta of QR's for me.

Then on to an Alpha.

Cool - thank you guys.
Unfortunately it's for the v2 only. I have a copper v1. Great little light btw. It's living with my keys since day one. Love it!

What a great excuse to get a v2! I've had my copper v2 for about a month now and love it. I think I'm going to have to spring for a EN.

So how many have tried a 10440 in this light? I know it's not "recommended" but I assume that's because of heat which I can watch for. Will it fry the driver?
