Prometheus Lights - The Showcase Gallery

Barefootone, does your Ice V3 have a cool XML or a MCE ? At the top of one of the pics it says MCE. If it's the XML, how do you like the beam pattern, tint, etc. The reason I ask is because I just got in on the latest Custom batch (an hour or two ago) and ordered the cool XM-L2. I already have a RM with the MCE 4500k and absolutely love it. I wanted my second one with more output and a little more reach. But I'm worried that I'm taking away what makes an Alpha an Alpha ! Any opinions from anybody?
I have a Ready Made that I sent to Vinh and he put in his custom DriverVN and a 4000k XM-L2. I LOVE the beam pattern! It has tremendous spill width but still pretty good throw (since my version puts out like 1400 lumens). It quickly became and has remained my favorite light and likely one of the only lights I'll keep indefinitely. I've had it for 6 months or so which already puts it as high as all but a few of my lights.

In summary, I would only choose the MC-E over the XM-L for TINT purposes and in my case I got an XM-L2 in a better tint (my opinion) than the MC-E that was in the Ready Made originally.

Thanks Turtle. I guess that opens up another door of choices. I could go with the XM-L2 neutral that matches the MCE neutral in terms of color tint but with more reach and higher output..........or the MCE cool with higher output but the beam pattern of the MCE neutral..................?

I had the MC-E before the XM-L and without being able to directly compare them side-by-side, I think the beam pattern is remarkably similar (due in large part to the boom reflector) but you get higher output and better efficiency out of the XM-L. And trust me, even with an XM-L instead of an MC-E, this thing is still very floody and reaches only due to sheer lumens.

Thank you sir, I actually have since received my Custom. I went with the cool MCE (well before Icarius ) and at the time he seemed to have upped the amps on the offering I ordered from. Mine is at 744 lumens. So I got the increased output and the slight increase in reach while maintaining the beam pattern "ideal" of this flashlight. Different tint, but I love all tints.

Excellent! Glad you're happy 🙂

Is the body grip good?

The surface of the carbon sleeve is textured, the raw carbon twill is not too slippery.

Don't like the body personally but the head is KILLER

Yeah, the ICE inspired head design. Plus triple Nichia 219s. Sweet.
As far as un-modded Alphas are concerned, this is the ONLY light from Jason that comes stock as a triple.
And yes, it legos well with all other Alphas (Yes, even ReadyMades), so if grip is an issue or Carbon not to your liking, the possibility to use that head on other Alphas is there. 🙂
