I used this UF16340 (grey color) for my P2Dce. AFter running some time it went out completely. I brought it back home and tested it with a meter and it was 0 v already!
Can anybody tell me this is what a protected battery will behave?
Is it safe to put it in a charger?

Thanks for any advice.

Hello Ragdoll,

It appears that you may have run the cell completely down to where the protection circuit had to kick in. Please note that if you are trying to get maximum cycle life from your cells, this is not a good thing to repeatedly do.

The way to check this out is to put the cell in the charger for 30 seconds. Then remove the cell and measure the voltage.

Let us know what you observe.

If the voltage jumps up, it is probably OK to charge. If it is still at 0 volts, the cell may have other "issues" and it would be best to not charge it.

Thanks a lot Silver Fox,

As you told me I put it to the charger and the orange (charging) light lit up. After 1 minute or so it I checked the voltage and it went up to 3.4V and so I continued to charge it as normal.

This could be the characteristic of this cell I suppose but I'll still have to watch out next time. Thanks again.
