Anybody have one of these and is PT's claim of a beam distance of 50 yards accurate?

I've got one, but have no way of measuring or viewing beams any farther out than maybe 15 yards - and then only for a brief time before the people across the street start picking up their phones.

Then there's those $*$#*& sodium vapor lamps across the street. They're bright enough to read by both at the target site and the origination site. That's no good.

You need to find someone with an outdoor "test range" at thier disposal that's not polluted by city lights.

The Princeton Tec line of LED lights are pretty interesting. I've been eyeing the Impact and Attitude for a while now, and have been contemplating which one i should get. Sorry Remus, but i don't have an answer for your question. But i do have a few questions of my own.

Stingmon... I want to know which one i should get. I lean towards buying the brightest light, but also beam quality, then battery life. I was just wondering if u can compare the Attitude and Impact?

I picked up an Attitude today and I find it to have a decent amount of light. I had a Trek Light that I started having problems with so I got the the Attitude to replace it. It is brighter and smaller. I do not have the Impact so I do not know how it compares, but I'm sure the Impact probably throws a tighter beam where the Attitude is more diffused.

I have one and yes, the claim is accurate. It projects a very defined and surprisngly bright beam. It's not as bright as a good incandescent, but it's enough for many purposes. The "reach" is substantially greater than any other LED light that I have seen, including the Brinkmann and the PAL.
As has been discussed over on the General forum, you can also use the Impact's LED module in a Vortec for an ultra-long-battery-life headlamp. Some might find the beam too narrow for headlamp use, however.

Does the Impact use a standard PR base bulb like the Tec 40? I would be very interested in what it could do with an LedCorp LS ("Pro") replacement bulb in it.

No, the Impact does not use a PR-base bulb. It has a different reflector module and bezel than the Tec 40, although the body is the same.

This is too subjective for me to give you advice on which unit to purchase.
It would be like telling you to buy a Granny Smith apple instead of a Red Delicious.
They're both apples, but they're a bit different in flavor, texture, and overall usage.

The Impact would be appropriate if you need to light something a bit farther beyond the usual 20' or so range of a regular LED flashlight, but it doesn't have a wide beam angle for those late night walks.

The Attitude has a more "normal" LED pattern with a brighter central area with a very soft fall-off to its peripheral light. This would be more suited to short range use and as a general task light.

Granny Smith or Red Delicious?
Only you can make the final choise.

Picked up the impact today and it is a nice light with a good range. What helped sell me on this light was the 150hr run time making it a good light in an emergency.IMHO
