I have recently acquired a Q123T R2 edition, and am overall quite happy with it. However, there is one small, irksome, relatively unimportant thing that is bothering me. When I turn it on, it will occasionally flicker right before the switch engages. It is on when the button is only slightly depressed, but if you go down just a little bit further, it flickers off. Click it down all the way, and it is fine. This only occurs when the head is in the loose position. It also does it very sporadically, with no obvious pattern. I have cleaned and lubed it thoroughly. I suppose it's not really a big deal, but it's gonna bother me until I figure it out. Any help?

Mine does the exact same thing. I believe it is the contact at the positive end of the battery somehow losing its connection. Mine only exhibits this behavior in the loose setting as well. You should be able to recreate the flickering by tilting the front end of the flashlight when in loose mode.

At first I thought it was the tailcap but then I realized if you hold the light so you are not grasping the forward end of the light you will never see this flickering. It only occurs because you are pushing the forward most piece around with your hand and somehow messing up the connection.

I hope this makes sense if you mess with it long enough you will be able to easily recreate the flickering on the bezel loose mode.

I too tried cleaning and lubing but it made no difference. I just live with it have never noticed it in real world use.

Hi Arcmay,

I had problems with mine as well when in the loose mode. The same issue as you're having, which lead me to the switch or so I thought. I had other problems too with the head loose- mode changing and then not changing, and even entering programming mode. I called 4-7's and talked to Trevor who said it wasn't the switch or other problem, instead the bezel wasn't loose enough when changing modes. He said to loosen it a full turn at least, which I have since done and there have been zero problems. (I had not been loosening the head more than just past the mode change.) When not loosening it enough, and especially when using one-handed operation, the head can "move" on the threads causing the problem just as Novaflash noted. FWIW, like you both I had I thoroughly cleaned the light inside and out too hoping it would fix the problem.
