Quark 123 (2) Turbo question?

Hello,
I have an older (3 year old) Quark 123 (2) Turbo light that uses 2 - CR123 batteries. This was my early start into this type of battery. (I have loked on Four Sevens webb site but this model is no longer listed).

My question is: can this light use a 18650 battery in place of the 2 123's? I know many lights that use 18650s can use 2-123s but I am not sure the other way around.

No unfortunately that cell won't fit, unless you had acquired the rare 18650 tube that was briefly in production over 3 yrs ago.

However, have a look at the Keeppower protected 2500mah 16650 cell (illumn.com), that'll be the next best thing. The 2xCR123 heads work fine with a single Li-ion.

So, if the 18650 fits I'm lucky and can use it. If not... Just stay with the double CR123's or go with that new (to me) 16650.
I'll look into the 16650.

If CR123's are a good fit, no room to wiggle around, an 18650 won't fit. I use 16650's in all my 123 X 2 Quarks. It's a great battery.

Also, *some* 17650 batteries may fit, but usually only the unprotected variety. If you want to consider those, make sure you know what you are doing with Li-Ion batteries, although it does not get too scary until you go above single cells.

Truth is, most of the 17 mm cells don't have near the capacity of the very high quality Keeppower 16650 cells. If you don't know, the first two digits are the diameter, the second two the length. The zero on the end means it's a cylindrical shape cell.
