RGB Channels and White from 4Sevens Quark RGB Flashlight

Top is a composite of 3 images taken one at a time with the RGB colors, bottom is with the white LED.
First attempt at this, no tripod so registration is a bit off on the edges.

I'll look for a more interesting scene later, and use a tripod for better registration between colors.
Something with a fluorescent object perhaps? I'll take suggestions.

Canon's thin "LIDE" flatbed scanners operate on this principle, using
a monochrome sensor and flickering between RGB LED light sources. For
most objects it produces results indistinguishable from white
fluorescent light, unless something moves during the scan and you get
color bands from that.

If I had a monochrome digital camera then in theory I could double the
resolution of the pictures taking them this way. But, as it is, with
the red and blue, 75% of the pixels in the camera are "blind" to that
each of those color, and 50% with the green.

Nice flashlight - I love the total flood "beam". I _hate_ SOS, though. This is a fun gadget, not a survival tool to get me rescued at sea. Shoulda tucked the blinkies away like they did with the MiNi series.

No, only one at a time, but I can combine the color channels from 3 different images in photoshop any time ;) The top image comes from three separate photos overlaid on each other.

It would probably be most interesting in a scene (water?) where there is some motion, so that certain things (like reflections) only get one or two of the three colors in the same place.

No fountains available tonight, but for starters here's my sink:

And shower:

So the QuarkRGB was in a jig of some sort?

Did you rotate the Quark (after switching colors) so the die that was illuminated was in the same spatial position?

I really dig the shower pic. Keep em coming, the RGB is one of my favorites.

The real fun starts when you can play with several. This is something I did with three Quark RGB: no Photoshop needed!

Reminds me of the days (2003?) when EverLED PR upgrades first came out and I blew a huge chunk of change ordering them in all the colors RGBW, Teal, and Yellow. Lots of fun running all those at the same time.
I notice EverLEDs are still sold (or at least listed) by LEDSupply, still in all the colors, and still $40 ea. Dunno if the LEDs are still the same old Lux I emitters or if they'd be more on par with the Quark these days. Most of mine are packed away except for the teal, which is still my favorite. I'll probably light up the porch with it this Halloween.

MichaelW - No jig. Nothing precise at all on these pics. Also, come to think of it, with three white light exposures and taking a channel from each. With LED light the red channel might be weak, though, esp w/cool white.

Here's a different use of my Quark at the atheist meetup.com haloween party in chapel hill:
