I have a Quark AA R5 "regular" that exhibits a very interesting, undocumented but useful aspect to the user interface. I am using an AW 14500 battery in it.
If I have the torch set with the head just a fraction loose (ie turned about ten degrees away from tight) and select the fourth brightness level using the tailswitch, I can then momentary "end tap" the head (so it makes very momentary contact to "tight" mode) and the torch will then go straight to moonlight mode. I am then able to use the tailpresses to step back up through the brightness levels again as normal.
In other words, I have found a way, on my torch, to switch from high back to low without going through the beacon and SOS modes. I'm pretty happy about this and I don't regard it as a fault. No, I don't drink and my head and body threads are clean (well mine actually aren't, but the torch's are...) and the "feature" appears to be quite repeatable on this particular torch.
Is this feature mine only or has Quark given everyone this lovely undocumented "upgrade".
Remind me one day to also tell you how I managed to unearth two extra brightness levels well below moonlight on my Quark R2 AA2 tactical....
