Question about Kroll Tailcap Switch

Off the top of my head....

MagAA, Arc LS, McLux, CNC-123, TnC Key Lux AA, Streamlight Jr, Longbow clicky, Stoplight, Pelican M6 kroll conversion....

I'll name more if I think of them.

One more, VIP...

As long as you make sure the bottom of the rubber boot is inserted into the battery tube (or switch)... good if not better than the stock tailcap.

What about adding an O-ring? Just looking for something better than that cheap one that Nite-Ize makes which is not resistant to water. I had a habit of holding the light in my mouth and the saliva killed the switch.

Am I the only one here that avoids Kroll switches like the plague?

Nope, I hate´m too. :sick2:

I don´t likem because of the plastic... wears heavily when used for a while. Only good thing is they fit some of the clickys that have a second alu-thread for use in the flashlight. Like the M6-conversion.

No need for adding an oring. The boot has the "seal" built in.

No, there are others around too. I'm not one of them though. With a couple correct adjustments they're pretty reliable & function well even with multimode drivers. Although I agree with some of it's cons, I've yet to see a better functioning switch with a nicer feeling click for it's application. I hate switches that don't have a solid feeling click. My personal preference.

I can't imagine having a different switch on my McLuxs & Arc LSs.

I'm with Will on this one - they can be quirky, but with a little TLC they're GTG.

I was looking at getting the Kroll Tailcap Switch or getting the Tacstar pressure switch tailcap for use on my shotgun. Has anyone else used the tacstar one and if so does it reduce the current flow?

What needs to be done to them to make them work better and not reduce power output?
Off the top of my head:

- You can change the main spring for the minimag spring (that'll reduce some of the resistance).
- Take the kroll apart and DeOxit/ProGold the internal spring/metal surfaces.

 there's a thread somewhere with kroll tweaks (even somebody working on high current mods).

That said, you can only get so much light out of a minimag; tweaking the kroll will reach a point of diminishing return pretty quickly.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. You shouldn't really have any problems when it's new but you can. Some of my krolls work flawlessly & some need maintenance only after they get old. Try it first before doing any tweaks, most likely you may not need to.

Would the Terralux one work better and give full power to the LED?

That Terralux switch is probably the next best thing. I don't like reverse clickies though but it does have a nice click to it.

You'll pretty much get full power with the Kroll too. You won't be able to tell any difference with your eyes.

I'm just worried since I will be using the red terralux drop-in. So the terralux doesn't have any reduction in power as compared to the stock MM tail cap? Thanks so much for everyones help. I'm sorry if I seem like a pain but remember I am a complete n00b and yall are the experts. Also on limited budget so don't want to waste my money on something that won't work. How good is the terralux cap when it comes to water resistance? I will be traveling to my hunting spots by boat.

If water resistance is your topmost concern, I'd stick with the kroll. Like Will said, your eyes won't notice the difference in output.

(Here's a dirty little secret... there's a lot of things that we throw around in the forums that in *real* use don't really matter.)
