Hey peter,
Did you ever think of putting or modifying the EverLed bulb into the arc-aaa or the arc-aa?, because all the electronics are already in the bulb and it looks like it can fit right into the head. If you think the question has been asked before or is just plain dumb, you don't have to respond. Thanks

Well, the downside of that would be the price, but its small enough to fit into the arc-aaa or arc-aa and as bright as a luxeon led. It's smaller than a regular light bulb because it doesnt have the glass dome, and it already has all the electronics inside, all it needs is a battery, and a reflector.

Oh well, i guess an everled is out of the question. Then why not just use a brighter white led? I have seen white leds that start with 11000 mcd, and the mcd for the current led used for the arc aaa is 6400. please explain this to me, i'am fairly new to the world of leds.

i believe availability may be an issue.
also, increased mcd ratings don't necessarily indicate more light, just a tighter beam.
then again, i dont' know much abuot non-luxeon leds /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

Because you'd pay a runtime penalty. The AAA was designed to be the best compromise between brightness and runtime available using a single AAA.
