dont want to be a pest but i have a bit of a trivia type question for ya (or 2) :
how many arc aaa's/le's do you think you have sold so far ? (numbers?)
what colors seem to be your best sellers? (numbers?)

if ya dont want to answer thats fine because i can see it being a bit of sensitive data.
just though it would be cool info to know.

I'll try a guess-shot to the second question.

95% white

That's pretty much 'assuming' or hoping that Peter will divulge the number of Arc-AAA sold when you asked the question.

Hello Orby, How about a partial answer?

How many sold? A lot more than we expected too!

Which color is the top seller? Like the man said, white is number one. Then turquiose. Strangely, UV is actually in the number 3 spot above the remaining colors.

good enough for me!
kinda funny to see your answer too as i have a arc le and a arc aaa uv.
gotta love blinding co workers with me le.
these things are soo $$$ here in canada though!!! almost $90 cad after taxes duty and shipping for my le - dont get me started on my uv....

We might be getting A Canadian distributor soon. I will add them to the web site when they get onboard.

Btw, since this is an open subject thread: Can I ask what you use your UV for?

Also, anyone here going to visit this year's Shot Show?

Hey Orby,

I live in Canada. Can you tell me how a $33 flashlight ends up costing that much ? ($33 + $12(shipping) = $45. With the exchange rate of 59% that makes it $71.55 Canadian) ??? How much was the duty ?

Either way, I'm guessing the ARC-LS will cost $100 + $12.5 (shipping) = $112.50. With the rate at 59% that means it will cost $178 (Canadian). Wow !! How much do you think the duty will be on this ???

Well there are nearly a thousand CPF members now. Although not everyone has bought a ARC AAA, I'm sure a reasonable number of members has bought more then one. I've bought six (combined regular's and LEs) myself. I'm going to guess I bet upwards of five thousand have been sold, that's a combination of the regulars and LEs. When I see the Arcs hanging next to the photons at my local sporting goods store then I'll know Arc Flashlight has hit the big time.

peter - the news of a canadian disto ROCKS ths house (bout time)
as for what i use the uv for-lots a stuff: the usual cool stuff like making glow in the dark stuff really bright at parties and raves and such. i noramally go along if any friends and family are looking in to renting apt's or houses and do night time inspections for rodent issues and the like. as well i do find my self working the doors at the parties i mentioned above so its great for checking tickets and wrist bands. i do keep finding more uses for it as time goes on so i never really looked back at getting it!

i have no clue what your talking about when you say "shot show" please explain more.

sylvestor i bought it through tts for 32.98 USD @ 1.6067 that equaled 52.99 then ups charged me 33.83 brokerage/duty fee's !!!
i was like wtf !?!? but i was super rushed when he showed up so i just handed him my visa and ran out the door. that totaled it to 86.82 - toss in a few bux for batts and you get $90 cad said and done... i still love the light though... as for what the ls is gonna run - peter hurry up with that canadian distro i dont want to face that bill !!!

That's just sh*tty... charging more than the light is even worth for duty and brokerage(?) fees.

I send stuff through the US postal service all the time and it hardly costs anymore than regular US shipping... wonder if that might be a better shipping option for Canadian customers.

I will post their website as soon as I get it.

Your second question:

Shot Show Website

The Shot Show is the Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show and Conference. Many of the flashlight manufacturers show their new wares there. The 2002 show is Febuary 2nd through the 5th in Las Vegas. We are thinking of showing off our LS and AAA products there.

Stingmon i did that for my arc aaa uv right from the arc website - and no it was not much better - a little better but not much... duties are just plain insane here... it makes online shopping a bit of a turn off cause you know your getting a good price - but it will have nothing to do with what you pay in the end...
i can say for sure that i will not be getting an ls untill a canadian source is available - and what gets me is that it will be stupidly cheaper as well if the company is out of my province because of the way taxes work here that if its shipping in from out of province you dont pay 1 of the taxes that you would have to pay if you bought it right in your own city!

oh oh oh - found a new use for my arc uv - testing stuff for use in case modding when using a uv case light! (just got back from picking up some hardware with some friends - one wanted to know what some rounded ide cables looked like under black light)

and the 33.83 was canadian so it was not really more then the light but still a good chunk of change.

edit:forgot somthing

peter wow as i was typing my last post you got yours in
smile.gif

thats great info - just wish that it happened sooner (could of saved me some coin - dunno how much but a bit)
do you have the ability to say where they operate out of ? (province)
looks like a ls will not be as much of a hardship to pay for after all

Your welcome! Btw, I updated the orginal post to show the information you requested.

A proviso: They still have to pay shipping and import fees from the US so their price will probally be higher than our website. But, your overall cost might be lower. I would definately contact them and find out.

Hi Peter,

Great news about attaining a Canadian Distributor. Do you know if they will be able to provide an ARC-LS (cyan) from your first run ? (I would really like to get it by Christmas).

thanks,

sylvestor.

Has anybody contacted this Canadian retailer for a price quote for an Arc AAA? Or about what it would be?
THe shipping and the taxes were the main reason i haven't gotten one yet.

nice quick replies from them! they listed as having all colors that arc offers for the following prices (in canadian + gst + local tax's)

Arc "AAA" - 39.95
Arc "LE" - 54.95

Arc-LS head - $107.95
2 AA power pack - $22.95
Single AA power pack - $18.95
Single Lithium 123 power pack - $18.95
Kit with head and all 3 power packs - $149.95

Shipping method is usually Purolater or Can-Par.

from what i can tell these seem to be seemingly reasonable.

i do believe i will be looking into getting an arc-ls off of them when the big bites me again!
